Unanswered question This question has not been answered yet. I'm starting my Oracle agent as root, but in /opt/IBM/ITM/tmp/myHost/sqlnet.log, I get the following error: ns main https://scn.sap.com/thread/1951205 err code: 12546 TNS-12546: TNS:permission denied ns secondary err code: 12560 nt main err code: 516 TNS-00516: Permission denied nt secondary err code: 13 nt OS err code: 0 I get this because the UNIX username to run the agent needs be user 'oracle' otherwise the agent cannot connect, via https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=150299 TNS, to the database. I cannot start the agent directly as user 'oracle' due to permission problems, because the agent was originally installed as user root. So I tell the agent to use another (non root) user at startup, by running: ./tacmd configureSystem -m AML:myHost:ORA -p _UNIX_STARTUP_.Username=oracle the response tells me the agent has successfully been altered. But starting the agent as root it still fails in the same way again. Looking in sqlnet.log Fatal NI connect error 12546, connecting to: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=beq)(PROGRAM=/oracle/apps/oracle/product/10.2.0/bin/oracle) (ARGV0=oracleAML)(ARGS='(DESCRIPTION=(LOCAL=YES)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=beq)))') (DETACH=NO))(CONNECT_DATA=(CID=(PROGRAM=korcoll) (HOST=myHost)(USER=root)))) I would have expected (USER=root) to now read (USER=oracle). Two questions: 1. Is ./tacmd configureSystem the wrong command for this? 2. Is there a better way to globally start the agent as root but tell it to use another UNIX user (i.e oracle) at startup? Many thanks. Log in to reply. Show: 10 25 50 100 items per page
