As a Comcast user and an Avast user the only way I can get my outgoing emails to send is by turning off Avast's outgoing scan function. Avast tech people please check into this issue. I'd like to be able to scan my outgoing emails again. Incoming emails are not an issue.Thank you. But further investigation actually showed that avast is ok but the ISP is blocking port 25, Avast just throws this message to say that it cannot c

When connected to connect error 1460 MWeb's network, I'm not able to connect to any SMTP server via Outlook or telnet or any SMTP server, except MWeb's. I can, however, connect to any SMTP server when I'm connected using my Axxess account. MWeb have assured me that they're not blocking anything to do with email but the fact remains I can't use my SMTP server when connected to their network. An attempt to telnet into vodamail's SMTP server (solely to test the connection) yields the following: Microsoft Telnet> open smtp.vodamail.co.za 25 Connecting to smtp.vodamail.co.za... 421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 196.11.146.149 <196.11.146.149:25>, NB connect error 1460 Connection to host lost. Press any key to continue... I would be happy to substitute MWeb's SMTP server in my mail setup, however, there are problems with that to do with SMTP relays I believe. I kept all settings. I have Thunderbird installed and not changed incoming and outgoing servers as they are mail.mydomain.com The issue is that now when I try to send e-mail, gets this error: There was an error sending messages. The mail server sent an incorrect message: "Cannot connect to SMTP server 22.54.57.783 (22.54.57.783:547), NB connect error 1460". * Dummy ip. From what I researched is something with Avast. Have changed settings, stopped the antivirus, I noticed the installation and the error remains.
