I know nothing about CloneDVD. Try using DVDFab (free version) to simply rip it and see if that works. Worry about converting it after you get it ripped. ARCCOS and similar methods are rare outside the USA and Canada but they are used. You might want to consider telling us what this DVD is. If it's not a Hollywood movie then there is some chance that it's not going to be very popular and DVDFab's authors may need to get a copy to know how to rip it. Those bad sector copy protection methods change all the time s

way to make a backup copy? Unfortunately not by means of standard disc burning software. In this tutorial, I will cover what I think it is the best alternative for making a backup copy. http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/344235-Can-t-clone-DVD-with-CloneDVD2 Trying to make a copy with the usual disc burning applications doesn’t work I have a DVD with one my all-time favorite movies: The Shawshank Redemption. The disc is quite old - I must have had it for 6 years or more, and well... I would like to make a backup of it, in case the disc becomes way too old and unusable. I started Nero http://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-make-backup-copy-protected-disc-dvd-or-blu-ray StartSmart Essentials and tried to copy the disc and it said “Copy error!”. Then, I fired up ImgBurn and tried to create an image file from the disc so that, later on, I can burn it to another DVD for safekeeping. Immediately, ImgBurn returned an error saying that the disc is copy protected and said that CSS/CPPM protection is being used by this disc. How do I get around it? How to use use and configure AnyDVD HD to remove the copy protection I chose to download and install the 21 days trial version of AnyDVD HD, to see how it would work. During the trial, you receive a prompt each time the application starts up. A small annoyance, nothing else. Once you click on Continue, you can start using the application. AnyDVD HD automatically scans the media that you place into your DVD or Blu-Ray drive, so that it detects its properties and the type of copy protection it uses. Once I opened AnyDVD HD, I noticed in the Status section that it correctly detected my DVD and the kind of copy protection used. Obviously, it was automatically removed. A nice thing is that, if you browse through the program’s settings
been ripped yet! Here's a brain teaser for you advanced types. I recently obtained the Oldboy Ultimate Edition, a fancy boxset for the Korean film. On the box http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-86353.html it states "COPY CONTROLLED DVD". Lo and behold, this DVD is resistant to https://www.winxdvd.com/resource/free-dvd-ripper-software-for-copy-protected-dvds.htm the standard rippers. DVD Shrink doesn't see the movie, just the menus. SmartRipper starts to rip, than hangs with an error. DVD Decrypter starts to rip as well, but runs into a bunch of read errors. I'll post my DVD Decrypter log in a following post. I've never had a problem ripping any DVD, aside from copy protection scratched ones. I tried tweaking some settings in DVD Decrypter (remove PUOs, ignore read errors) and different methods (IFO read / ISO read). No dice. I am able to rip the other VOB files on the disc, but the VTS_01_1.VOB can't be copied. I'm assuming this is not really an encryption scheme, but some kind of tricky IFO / DVD file structure that's faking out the software. The disc plays copy protection error fine in my standalone and WinDVD. Unfortunately, if you're the type who wants to pick up a copy and try the challenge yourself, the Ultimate Edition is ~$100. Another version is coming out in a few weeks that's $20, which I assume would be mastered the same way. If you have any suggestions or want to see the IFO file let me know.
