now, lets hope not! well, searching these forums, I found a post that seemed to suggest a possible workaround: it windows media player digital copy protection error said, backup with DVDDecrypter in IFO mode and do something with them in Deamon tools. as I went to check out what deamon tools was, I lost that window and have been unable to dvdfab relocate the post. but what I learned of deamon tools puzzled me in what connection does it have with IFO or anything DVD? the official site (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/portal.php) states the that deamon is DAEMON Tools is an advanced application for multiprotection emulation. how would that help. If there really is a way to over come the "redundancy error" that way, I would sure like enlightment. thanks, Trahald29th October 2004,

13:51daemon tools is just a virtual dvd/cd/etc software based emulator. it is only useful at the point you actually have an image on your hd. Its not for ripping from the real disk. Deacon Blues29th October 2004, 18:10I didn't say anything about ripping with it, as I said in the original post backup with DVDDecrypter in IFO mode but then I have to do something with the IFO files in Deamon(or so the lost post said), and thats what I want to know. What do I do with deamon? dannyv29th October 2004, 18:55Originally posted by Deacon Blues I've been backingup a couple of DVDs lately but have just run into this problem now(the cyclic redundancy error"), note: my DVD is clean and scrathless. If not please remove post. I've been trying to rip a DVD that states on the DVD label "Copy Protection" and that no viewable copy can be made. It's a DVD9, Dual Layer Single Sided Disc. When I try to rip the files I get a CRC error. I've tried DVD Decrypter, ONES, CloneDVD DVD-cloner and even DVDShrink. With DVD Decrypter is fails at http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/213669-CRC-Error-On-Ripping around 5% and by the looks of it the others progs also fail around about the same place. I've checked the disc and there doesn't seem to be any scratches or finger marks and I've cleaned it thoroughly but all to no avail. I've also tried both my burners-a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108 Firmware v1.18 (that can handle dual layer) and LITE-On DVDRW LDW-851S Firmware GS0P. I've read somewhere that some "Copy Protected" DVDs have a CRC error burned into the disc so that the ripping process fails. If that's the case with this one it's the first time I've come across it. I've even followed the advice given by MOVIEGEEK i.e. If you encounter an error while ripping with DVDDecrypter go to Tools->Settings and set Structure Protection Removal Method to Aggressive, then go to I/O tab and enable Ignore Read Errors.Setting Transfer Length to Manual/32KB might help. If anyone can offer any help I'd be much obliged. When I try to copy the files copy protection from the DVD to the PC Hard Disk then all the files gets copied except one of them. During the copying of this file I get the error "Data error cyclic redundancy check". Anyway I can copy these files to the PC ? Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top ScottW Posts: 6609 This post has been reported. Rupesh, those files copy protection error are the standard names for files on a DVD. See the description of the DVD Video disc format at videohelp.com for more. A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) error normally means that the data on a disc is corrupted or unreadable. However, in this case it may be copy protection if the DVD is a film or other copyrighted work. If that is the case, you will need a DVD ripper program such as DVD Decrypter or DVDFab HD Decrypter to copy the files. In this case the data may have got corrupted since the DVD does not have any copy protection Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top Topic Closed This topic has been closed to new replies.
