Scratches on a DVD can often be fixed by using rubbing alcohol, furniture polish or toothpaste to remove scratches and smudges from a DVD's surface. After these imperfections are removed, the DVD should perform much better in your DVD ripping program. But to copy protected DVDs is really a big headache. https://www.macxdvd.com/mac-dvd-video-converter-how-to/rip-copy-protected-dvd-without-read-error.htm This is because companies making DVD movies make their DVD in such a way that if you ever want to copy it, your DVD ROM will get stuck in a particular area of the DVD which it wont be able to read and therefore gives a DVD read error. Most copy protected DVD uses a copy-prevention algorithm called Content Scramble System (CSS), Region Code Enhanced (RCE), User Operation Prohibition (UOP), Sony ARccOS DVD protection, the Analog Protection System, etc. which helps to prevent DVD movies play in a region before a film is released in theaters. You might have a try on the DVD video recorder to get movies off DVD disc, but unsatisfied with its poor quality. A few DVD ripping programs have advanced technology that can rip copy protected DVD with least loss on quality. Here MacX DVD Ripper Pro (for Mac) is highly recommended. If you are a Windows user, just use Windows version. Top-notch DVD Ripper for Mac/PC Decrypt and rip copy protected DVD without read error. I have tried different dvds, king kong, ROTK, etc. but none of them will find the magic number. I have tried it before the swap, after inserting the 360 game, and no luck on either try. If I do it with the regular dvd it gives me an error saying "disk copy protected". If i try it with the 360 game it says there is an i/o problem with the drive. I have tried it with different drives though. No luck. Anybody have any suggestions? terd777, copy protection Jan 15, 2007 #21 Najeem27 Guest I loaded my iso and my ss.bin file which i downloaded from ss.softmodfiles.net. When i click detect i get a database error. The Required SS file wont load. Can i still merge? This is what it looks like. I am trying to use it so that I can backup my games, but when I open the program, copy protection error and click stop spinning, the drive doesn't stop spinning. I can tell, because when I open the lid, you can hear it spinning. Does this program only work with Windows XP? I have Windows ME, and don't have the money right now to upgrade? I have moved to another mthod but has anybody else had a successful burn after this error? terd777, Jan 31, 2007 #28 mikald79 Guest same problem aswell. burn it anyways, worked like a charm mikald79, Feb 1, 2007 #29 cearel Guest yep seems everyone has had this prob but all my backups have worked fine i have never gotte
