DCom got error Overlapped I/O operation is in progress..... P: n/a AmyAdmin I am running windows 2000 with IIS 5.0 and I have ASP and .NET apps running on that server, and I've been getting the error message in my event viewer: DCom got error "Overlapped I/O operation is in progress" and was unable to logon .\IWAM_servername in order to run the server. Followed by another error: The server stop serving requests for application __________ because of the number of out of process component crashes exceeded a limit. When this happens my ASP sites (all of them) report Server Application Error at the url, however it doesn't affect my .net apps. I've been searching for an answer for a long time, for now I run the syncIwam.vbs script but that only fixes it for a short time before it happens again. Thoughts? -- Thanks for all the help in advance -Amy Jul 22 '05 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 3 Replies P: n/a Bob Barrows [MVP] AmyAdmin wrote: I am running windows 2000 with IIS 5.0 and I have ASP and .NET apps running on that server, and I've been getting the error message in my event viewer: DCom got error "Overlapped I/O operation is in progress" and was unable to logon .\IWAM_servername in order to run the server. Get the Event ID from the event viewer and go to www.eventid.net to look it up. Bob Barrows -- Microsoft MVP --
Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken https://bytes.com/topic/asp-classic/answers/125373-dcom-got-error-overlapped-i-o-operation-progress care of by the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the servers. read more... http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-10004-source-DCOM-eventno-11-phase-1.htm Event ID: 10004 Source: DCOM Source: DCOM Maintenance: Recommended maintenance tasks for Windows servers Type: Error Description:DCOM got error
