Could not connect to the Enterprise Vault. The RPC server is unavailable. service is not dcom got error running on the destination server etc etc. If you Dtrace (and filter VaultCoCreateInstance) the component in question: You should see the wrapper (around CoCreateInstanceEx which creates the COM object) call: VaultCoCreateInstanceEx: An error occurred - RequestedServerName = [NathansEV], UsedServerName = [REMOTESERVER], hrCCI = [0x800706BA]... Exposing the Error: [0x800706BA] and server name Or check the System Event log (where you usually find more info like the CLSID) on windows 2008 for the 10009 errors: DCOM got error "2147746132" from the computer 192.168.75.134 when attempting to activate the server: {GUID OF OBJECT} Here error 2147746132 a common one and a bit generic is: hex 0x80040154 : REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG Which usually implies that GUID is not registered in the registry on that server, a regsvr32 on the relevant dll may help, or a DCOM permissions issue DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer REMOTESERVER using any of the configured protocols. started getting error events on our backup server (running veritas version 8.6 & win2000 server) DCOM got error "%2147746132" from the computer when attempting to activate the server. I believe i can stop these errors by installing certificate services on the relevant server but if i do what are the implications of doing this? Are there any other options Guest, Feb 16, 2004 #1 Advertisements Gary Fose [MSFT] Guest 1) From the description field in Event ID 10006, look for the GUID of the class responsible for the error and make a note of it or copy it (Ctrl+C) to the clipboard. 2) Launch REGEDIT.EXE and search the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID registry container for the GUID found in step one above. 3) Determine the dll responsible for registering this class object by double-clicking the GUID, and then clicking once on the InprocServer32 folder to reveal the dll name. The dll name can be found on the right hand pane. 4) Using the following command, re-register the class object REGSVR32.EXE
