This does work for commands like regedit though, so it seems the runtime I'm getting is like the "run" window and not cmd. Is there a way to run these commands? java windows cmd share|improve this question edited Dec 9 '15 at 0:51 paxdiablo 489k1179701419 asked Oct 27 '10 at 8:50 Amir Rachum 22.8k46119211 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 19 down vote accepted That's because echo is not an external executable command (i.e., there is no echo.exe file on your hard disk, unless you put it there yourself). It's an internal command of the shell. You'll probably find that you need to execute something like: cmd.exe /c echo hello share|improve this answer answered Oct 27 '10 at 8:53 paxdiablo 489k1179701419 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. the following command runs well directly within a Command Prompt window, but fails from within a WinAutomation job: sqlcmd -S %dbServerName% -d %sqlDatabaseName% -E -Q "SET NOCOUNT ON SELECT ‘""‘ + http://www.winautomation.com/community/topic/run-dos-command-using-sqlcmd-will-not-work/ supplierName + ‘""‘, ‘""‘ + invNo + ‘""‘, CONVERT(varchar(19), invDate, 103), ‘""‘ + poNum + ‘""‘, REPLACE(originfilepath, ‘%PathToReplace%', ‘"%ReplacementPath%"‘) FROM dbo.stock_BPOdata_header WHERE invuFlag IS NULL AND originfilepath IS NOT NULL" -o "%CSVOutputTargetFolder%" -W -w 1024 -s "," -h-1 It's just running a query, updating one value in the output data, then writing out a CSV file. The exact SQLCMD runs perfectly and generates clean output from within dos error CMD, I just have to manually replace the variables from the WAJ to the actual paths. This is the error I get from WinAutomation: Runtime Error: Cannot execute Command or Console Application: -S CHEZIDEE\SQLEXPRESS -d UAT_YourBPO_PCL -E -Q "SET NOCOUNT ON SELECT ‘""‘ + supplierName + ‘""‘, ‘""‘ + invNo + ‘""‘, CONVERT(varchar(19), invDate, 103), ‘""‘ + poNum + ‘""‘, REPLACE(origi notice the end of the command is cannot be run cut off. (although this may be a 255 limit in the error message box and nothing to do with the command itself). Is WinAutomation not able to use the Trusted Connection switch (-E)? In which case should I embed the username/password instead? Or is there a length limitation? Or something else I've missed? This topic was modified 6 months, 2 weeks ago by goPrendes. This issue does not have to do with the length of your command. Please use the "Trim Text" action with the "Both from the beginning and end" option selected in order to trim all your variables. Let us know if the issue persists. Kind Regards, Aristea

Is there a way to see the complete error message being generated by WinAutomation? In the example it only shows the first 256 characters, the rest
