Maybe Other OS's. Submitted by kdawg on Fri, 2013-01-25 01:05 DS2 & BW Technical Support How to get Dungeon Siege 2 and Broken World to Play online in a virtual lan using Tunngle using windows 7 x64. Possibly Works on Other Systems please users verify. https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/2431 Step. 1 Make sure each user has the same content including no CD crack or original game exe and using the retail cds to load the game. Step. 2 One must have the most recent version of "Tunngle" installed and you need a "Tunngle" user account. Step. 3 Option. 1 Install Elys DS2 Succubus Manager v10 from http://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/1290 Option. 2 add "127.0.0.1 dsiege2.available.gamespy.com" without the qoutes to the end of "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" file you can open it with any text editor like "notepad", Wordpad" there are many more. You Double click on "hosts" and if it asks you if you would like to look online to what can open it select no and select the option that lets you choose which program to open it with. In that list should be your favourite text editor or at the very least "notepad". If the notepad tells you it doesn't have permission to edit the file, Go to "Start" Menu, Then "All Programs", Then "Accessories", Then right click on "notepad" and click on "Run as Administrator", then drag and drop the host file onto notepad. Step. 4 Go to "Control Panel" click on "Network and Sharing Center" Then Click ON "Change Adapter Settings" then click on the network adapter named
for it stopped. If you receive a gamespy error message, you need to add the following line to your "hosts" file:
127.0.0.1 dsiege2.available.gamespy.com The path to the file is: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts Open https://tech.tiq.cc/2013/06/dungeon-siege-2-gold-tips-and-tricks/ the file with notepad and add the line, then save. An alternative solution http://ds.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=30,1852,150,all would be to download the Elys_DS2_Succubus_Manager_v10. This also lets you set the resolution to any value you want. If you do not use either of the solutions above, clicking "LAN" simply does nothing (it makes the clicking sound, but nothing happens). Once you got that to work you might run into a different error. The dungeon siege game returns a "nickname error" and tells you that your nickname is being used. What definitely works is to disable your internet network adapter (wi-fi mostly), click LAN ingame and then re-enable it again. Using the tool "Tunngle", which acts as a Lobby for LAN mode, miraculously works, too. Once you and your friend are in the LAN lobby ingame you can chat with each other. And yet another dungeon siege 2 problem arises. You can see each other in the lobby, but you can't see each other's games? There does not seem to be a solution for this. Presumably this has something to do with the way the game broadcasts the game session across the local network, I could play other LAN games without direct IP connect (e.g. Star Wars Battlefront 2) with a friend, but Dungeon Siege 2 would never show the game. According to the internet, LAN mode works over local network with a crossover cable, but I have not tried that yet (only Tunngle). Because I never got to play the LAN mode of this game, I have not come across the next error that is frequently reported in forums: You are in a lobby with your friend and click start, the game loads but only you show up - your friend remains in the lobby. Apparently it helps to patch the game to the latest version. There is no patch v2.3, which leads me to assume that the addon automatically updates the game to v2.3. That might help, too. If anyone out there has a solution for the "LAN-games-do-not-show-up" problem, I would be very thankful. Wolfspirit Dungeoneerer posted 09-14-05 01:30 PM EDT (US) With the help of Microsoft, I have finally nailed down where the problem is with the LAN connection. It appears that mclsp.dll which is included in the McAfee Privacy suite which is known as the Anti Abuse Index in thier security centre is the offending file.If you add/REMOVE the privacy suite then all the LAN problems with DS II disappear immediately.I believe that the idea of the privacy suite is to protect you from malicious websites that actively look for personal info in cookies etc, such as credit cards and passwords, so I'm gonna have a look at some alternatives.Hope that helps anyone who is having problems.CheersWolfspirit AuthorReplies: MentalMaze Dungeoneerer posted 09-14-05 07:14 PM EDT (US) 1 / 4 Hmmm.. interesting, thanks for shareing.
