For information, see the Handling Winsock Errors topic. The WSAGetLastError function returns the last error that occurred for the calling thread. When a particular Windows Sockets function indicates an error has occurred, this function should be called immediately to retrieve the extended error code for the failing function call. These error codes and a short text description associated with an error code are defined in the Winerror.h header file. The FormatMessage function can be used to obtain the message str

Socket Error # 10061 in Enterprise Console? Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down When I try to connect to PRTG via the Enterprise Console, the software displays a socket error number 10061 and I cannot https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms740668(v=vs.85).aspx connect. However, I can still login to the PRTG web interface. What settings do I have to change to solve this? Why does the connection not work? enterprise-console error gui login prtg server-administrator windows Created on Feb 3, 2010 9:00:13 AM by Daniel Zobel [Paessler Support] Last change on Dec 7, 2012 3:15:58 PM by Gerald Schoch [Paessler Support] Permalink 1 Reply Accepted Answer Votes:0 Your Vote: Up https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/333-how-do-i-solve-a-connection-refused-socket-error-10061-in-enterprise-console Down This article applies to PRTG Network Monitor 14 or later Solving Connection Refused Socket Error # 10061 in the Enterprise Console The Enterprise Console is a native Windows application and one of the interfaces that you can use to change settings and review monitoring data of your PRTG setup. In order to retrieve this data, the Enterprise Console must establish a connection to the PRTG Web Server. If you open the PRTG Enterprise Console and see a "socket error number 10061", this means that your Enterprise Console was not able to connect to the PRTG Web Server running on the PRTG Core Server. There can be several reasons for this. If you can still log into the PRTG Web Interface but get this error message using the Enterprise Console, the most common matter is non-matching settings of Web Server and Enterprise Console. Step 1: Viewing the Enterprise Console Settings From the Windows Start Menu, open the PRTG Enterprise Console application. From the menu, select File | Manage PRTG Server Connections. The Devices overview appears. On the left side, click on PRTG Server Connections. On the right side, select a server entry and click on the edit Edit button (the wrench symbol
Troubleshooting the "Connection Refused" Message - TCP/IP Error 10061 The information in this article applies to: DameWare Mini Remote Control http://support.dameware.com/kb/article.aspx?ID=300006 10061 is a TCP/IP error which implies that there is a TCP/IP http://help.globalscape.com/help/cuteftp7/socket_error_=__10061.htm connectivity issue between the local and remote machines. Here is a possible method of troubleshooting the 10061 error in regard to the Mini Remote Control Service. Please make sure that you have administrative rights to the remote workstation. Reset the default TCP port usage(6129) on both local and remote error 10061 workstations. Within DWMRC, select the desired host entry and click on the Settings button. On the Remote Options Tab, verify that the Port number is set to 6129 (must match the Remote Client Agent Service port exactly) To ensure the default port usage(6129) on the remote workstsation: Stop the DameWare Remote Client Agent Service. Delete DWRCS.INI from the system32 directory. Delete the socket error 10061 registry entry for the client agent HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DameWare Development\DWRCS. Restart the service. Other things to consider: 1) There may be some other application using the same port. Stop the service on the remote machine and run "netstat -a". There should be nothing listening on port 6129. If there is, then something else is using the port. If not, then restart the service on the remote machine and you should have something (DMRC) listening on port 6129. 2) If we have verified Step 1 and we get to this point with no resolution, then there must be a Microsoft name resolution/routing problem, because we can query and install a service using the installed protocol via Windows API but we can't communicate with the computer using plain TCP/IP via sockets. This means there is a problem with your network setup. You should be able to duplicate this problem outside of the DNTU/Mini Remote Control software. a) Verify the IP address and hostname on the remote computer are correct. b) Attempt to map to a shared resource on the remote computer. If it fails, then resolve any net
incorrect Port specified by the client. To change your connection Port for an FTP site Select the site in the Site Manager. From the menu, choose File > Properties. Select the Type tab. Enter the correct port number in the Port text box. Sometimes a 10061 error is caused by either a firewall or anti-virus software presence on the local computer or network connection. Either one may be blocking the ports needed to make a successful FTP connection to the server. For a regular FTP session, please either disable the firewall or anti-virus software or configure it to allow CuteFTP to establish an FTP session over ports 20 and 21. Please consult the documentation or help file for your specific firewall or antivirus software product for further instructions. Usually, the manufacturer of the device or software has specific instructions available on their Web site. If you continue to receive the same error after insuring ports 20 and 21 are open, please contact the administrator of the site where you are trying to connect.
