For a regular FTP session, either disable the error 10061 connection refused firewall or anti-virus software or configure them to allow CuteFTP to establish an FTP session over ports 20 and tftpd32 error 10061 21. Consult the documentation or help file for your specific firewall or antivirus software product for instructions. Usually the manufacturer of the device or software will also have specific instructions available http://support.2brightsparks.com/knowledgebase/articles/213469-common-ftp-errors-and-socket-error-messages on their Web site. If you continue to receive the same error after insuring ports 20 and 21 are open, contact the administrator of the site you are trying to connect to. WSAETIMEDOUT (10060) 10060 is a connection-timeout error that usually appears when the client does not receive a response http://help.globalscape.com/help/cuteftp8/Socket_errors_10060_10061_10064_10065.htm from the server for a specific command. This error often occurs when you try to connect in PASV mode to a server that prefers PORT for data connections. If you see an error log similar to the one below, in the Site Properties of the problem site, click the Type tab, then change the Data Connection Type to Use PORT. COMMAND:> PASV 227 Entering Passive Mode (xxx,xx,xxx,xx,x,xxx). COMMAND:> LIST STATUS:> Connecting ftp data socket xxx.xx.xxx.xx:xxxx... ERROR:> Can't connect to remote server. Socket error = #10060. ERROR:> Failed to establish data socket. If you still receive a 10060 error, the server may be trying to send a listing for a very large directory (with many thousands of files) causing the client to time-out while waiting. Try increasing the time-out value in the Global Options dialog box (Tools > Global Options > Transfer > Reconnect and resume in [ n ] seconds if nothing received ) to a higher value, such as 45 or 60 seconds. The connection fails due to an error or timeout. Verify that the destination IP address is correct. Increase the connection timeout threshold under

(Please run it on the machine where PRTG is installed) Another question is, do you have limited the access to the FTP Server on a IP base? AutoMate 6, AutoMate 5 Published: 6/23/06 , modified June 23, 2006 IntroductionA socket is defined as one endpoint of a two-way communication link between two programs running on the network. A socket is bound to a port number so that the TCP layer can identify the application that data is destined to be sent.Normally an FTP server runs on a specific machine and has a socket that is set to a specific port number. The server mainly waits and listens to the socket for a client to make a connection request. The client makes a connection request by trying to meet with the server on the server's machine and port. If everything goes well, the server accepts the connection. Upon acceptance, the server gets a new socket bound to the same port. It needs a new socket so that it can continue to listen to the original socket for connection requests from other clients while tending to the needs of the currently connected client. On the client side, if the connection is accepted, a socket is successfully created and the client can use the socket to communicate with the server. The client and server can now communicate by writing to or reading from their sockets. A socket error can occur if one or more of the above conditions are not met or something is blocking communication between the client and server (e.g. firewall, anti-virus). Additionally, a client connection can already be established with a server when a socket error occurs such as in cases when the network connection goes down or the host that the client connected to suddenly crashed and/or rebooted. Common FTP Socket Error Codes 11001 - Host not found. Check that the hostname or IP address has been entered correctly. 11004 - Valid name, no data record of requested type. This error generally indicates that the specified FTP server name is incorrect or not specified. Try entering the hostname or IP address, not a URL (e.g. if ftp://server.domain.com/ is entered, then change it to server.domain.com). Another possibility is that connection is blocked by a firewall. Try temporarily turning off the Windows firewall or any other software firewall you are running.10061 - Connection refused. The hostname is correct, but the FTP server is not listening on the port, there is no FTP server running, or a
