From the cmd window, I run "mysqlshow -u root -p". It asked for a password, then returned this error: "Can't connect http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10892689/cant-connect-to-mysql-server-on-localhost-10061-after-installation to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)" This is a bad indication of partially failed/successful installation. After reading the page, http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/windows-troubleshooting.html, it told me to find an error log (.err) in C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\data. The directory exists but there is no log file. I have a feeling this is related to the tight security of Windows 7, especially when installing a Unix based software. And yes, I am the Administrator on my PC. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. And I can return a favor by answering Java and SQL query questions. mysql windows windows-7 share|improve this question asked Jun 5 '12 at 6:31 The Original Android 4,00531223 It more sounds like you supply an invalid username/password when trying to connect. –Cyclone Jun 5 '12 at 6:33 well, root as username is supplied by the installation so that should be valid. And I did not set a password for root, at least not yet, for ease of use for now. –The Original Android Jun 5 '12

I want to monitor a database but my sensor returns that issue : Could not connect to database: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'x.x.x.x' (10061) Socket error on connect. WSAGetLastError return 10060($274C) Firewalls are disabled. Did you flush the privileges after creating the user? Add comment Created on May 14, 2015 9:20:16 AM by Stephan Linke [Paessler Support] Permalink Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down I'm having this same issue. Normally when you connect MySQL you are required a port socket error 10061 too which I found odd that it was not a field in the PRTG connection. Add comment Created on May 14, 2015 8:52:30 PM by jcosley (0) ●1 Permalink Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down The port, username and password have to be configured within the device settings, under Credentials For Database Management Systems - is that set up properly? :) Add comment Created on May 18, 2015 6:36:20 AM by Stephan Linke [Paessler Support] Permalink Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down I will check that and let you know if it is good or not. Thanks. Add comment Created on May 18, 2015 7:00:06 AM by Fanjio (0) ●1 Permalink Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down I don't have any Credentials For Database Management Systems option in the device settings. I just have Credentials for Windows Systems, Credentials for Linux/Solaris/Mac OS (SSH/WBEM) Systems, Credentials for VMware/XenServer and Credentials for SNMP Devices. Is that normal? Add comment Created on May 18, 2015 7:21:25 AM by Fanjio (0) ●1 Permalink Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down In older PRTG versions, the database credentials were configured within the sensor settings. But please check your permissions first as mentioned in my other post :) Add comment Created on May 18, 2015 7:33:16 AM by Stephan Linke [Paessler Support] Permalink Votes:0 Your Vote: Up Down PRTG host can't connect to MySQL server, but user is allowed to connect database (i tried to connect from other hosts)
