I get varying lengths of error message, all apparently the same cause. The longest says "The connection to the server was interrupted. ... The server responded: 421 Cannot connect connection error 10061 indusoft to SMTP server ... connect error 10061"All was fine with Outlook 2003. I installed Office 2007 Enterprise and allowed it to upgrade my Outlook 2003 email.I have checked the Services (2 auto, 2 manual). I have checked Outlook Trust Center. I have increased Outlook timeout to 2 min but the error comes back in say within 10 secs.I am curious as to why there is a difference between stopping OAP (can send) and terminating all

Most likely your internet provider is blocking your ability to send out email direct from your connection over SMTP port 25, forcing you to either use their mail server for outbound mail delivery or to use an alternate port to connect to mail.yourdomain.com instead of port 25. In Cpanel you can configure it to listen on alternate ports. If you have Cpanel configured to listen on an alternate port that your ISP doesn't block, then use that port as your SMTP port. For instance, I set up Cpanel to listen on TCP port 26 as an alternate port for SMTP connections. I then configure my Outlook to send mail to mail.mydomain.com port 26 - which my ISP does not block. I have a windows 2003 standard error 10061 box, and in it I am running a vmware of another windows 2003 standard. On this VM Ware, I have installed hmail and have fully configured it according to the docs provided online. From the server I can run outlook express and my send and receive/connection works and I can create and send mail and receive it. This is the problem: from connect error 10061 the host computer, the windows 2003 standard thats hosting the vmware, I cannot connect/send/receive to the server and it just times out and keeps trying with no real error message that is of any use. I can telnet into both pop and smtp and send and receive email so I know the ports are working. Anyone have any ideas? I may be vague, but let me know if you need more details! Marc. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
