Starter Joined: Feb 10, 2008 Messages: 13 automatic microsoft update continued to fail on everyday from Feb 16th and today the windows modules installer service terminated with the following error 7023 i tried to do manual update [Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806)]. I received a error:Error Code: 0x80246008. The Microsoft Help asked me to start BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) and http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-update/bits-error-126-windows-7/eafdfddd-8a5c-4163-88f5-28f74995a136 I received an "cannot start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service on Local Computer. Error 126: The specified module couldnot be found" Please help me. What I can do to resolve this error? Click Start->Run, type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. 2. In the right pane, please check whether the following four services have been started: Background Intelligent Transfer Service If not, please double click the service. Since downloading a virus detection program in July, I had been unable to update my MS Windows, perform Security Updates, or Upload Windows Defender updates. Program was uninstalled, but problem remained. Several attempts to resolve installation failures were unsuccessful (via MS Tech Help) -- until now, of course. 2. Error code for all Installation Failures: 0x80246008 3. Troubleshooting section at the MS website led me to discover the problem via:Start > Run > Type in: services.mscRight Click on Background Intelligent Transfer ServiceClick on PropertiesService Status = STOPPEDCould not click on START4. When I tried to click on START in the BITS properties, I received this error message: "Could not start the BAckground Intelligent Transfer Service service on locl computer. Error 126: The specified module could not be found." The resolution to this problem came from tech help (MS Windows website) -- I'll quote from the tech's email (below).
