Unplug your iPod from the computer. Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and find iTunes on that list. Remove it. Reboot your computer. If you can download iTunes from the Apple website or if you have, install it from CD. Plug your iPod in and see what it does. Worst case scenario is that you lose your library. Make sure you copied your music and other files to a different directory. Good luck and let us know if this helped. Was this answer helpful? I found online that I should hit the ipod against my palm to fix it, which it did. I then plugged the ipod into my laptop (win xp). (Note: I have already checked the warranty on it, nothing) I got an error message saying the ipod was corrupt and needed to be restored. When I chose to restore it I got an error saying that it could not be restored (error 1437). I have tried several times, in different usb ports and nothing works.
