I got two hard drives on my system . sda and sdb . sda disk is 1TB and had windows 7 installed in all of its capacity (prior the arch installation). The other hard drive sdb is 270GB and had Ubuntu installed . sdb has Grub installed also. I decided to install Arch and go triple boot . I followed https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=165141 roughly this installation without the part where the guy installs grub. I chose that after installing arch i will go to Ubuntu and update my grub with sudo update-grub and so did i. Grub updated succesfully and i got one addition to the menu of Grub (Arch on /dev/sda5). Also i want to report that i used gpartedlive Usb to make my arch partitions. After booting to Arch i was getting the above message which is difficult to decrypt but i know that is something subtle. I just can't get my head around it.-- mod edit: read the Forum Etiquette and only post thumbnails http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/For … s_and_Code [jwr] -- Last edited by Vaios (2013-06-14 18:29:16) Offline #2 2013-06-13 20:53:45 mychris Member From: Munich Registered: 2012-09-15 Posts: 67 Re: [SOLVED]Problem on first Boot after installation -- fsck: error 2 What does your /etc/fstab look like? The system tries to mount /dev/sda5 to '/', but it is defined with a fstype 'swap'.In your screenshot, /dev/sda6 is the swap partition, so there must be an error in the /etc/fstab of your arch system. You should be able to mount your partition in the emergency shell and repair your fstab. Here is my situation. 1) Server went down and got booted into a rescue mode where I was able to use putty to find out that my md3 (soft raid) was degraded which is funny cause that is just the /var not the / which in theory should still let the server boot i just wouldn't have my www files. 2) I managed to repair the raid using mdadm and status is all good 3) I reboot and the server never comes back online. In normal Mode (boot from HD) So I put it back in
repair a Linux SWAP Partition Guides, Pills Add comments Nov 182013 Original article first published in Spanish on http://vidagnu.blogspot.it/ Yesterday I ran into a problem in a SWAP partition on an Astaro Command Center, so I decided to restart with an Ubuntu CD, and my first attempt to repair the system was with the fsck command, but when trying to use it I got the message fsck.swap: command not found So I check with the badblocks command that the partition had no bad blocks. sudo badblocks -v /dev/sda2 The above command did not return any error, then searching the Internet I found this simple way to rebuild a damaged swap partition. sudo swapoff /dev/sda2 sudo mke2fs -c /dev/sda2 If the above commands do not report any problems and complete successfully, then continue with the following: sudo mkswap /dev/sda2 sudo swapon /dev/sda2 Ready, reboot and test, although this process is run in Astaro, applies to any Linux with a similar problem. Reply DarkDuck says: Tuesday November 19th, 2013 at 11:39 AM I agree that the process of "check-delete-recreate" does not really fix the error as such. Neither it shows how to fix the disk error(s) if there are any. Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your Comment You may use these HTML tags and attributes:
