I was a little underwhelmed at the main Android performance at first, as I bought it for a Christmas present for my parents to replace their current WDTV kodi error 2 share not available smb Live solution (They need simple lol). Having gone into the Kodi side of things, I've

found it fantastic! The way it integrates back to Android is awesome. I've added a new 'clean' skin and added Netflix to menu
Osmc Error 2 Share Not Available
which boots back to the native Android Netflix app which is so cool! Love it.I'm having a problem adding a network share to Kodi though, and I think it's likely to be something on the box side, as I

run a Kodi installation myself on an Intel NUC for my own media.Normally on other Kodi installations, I go to Windows network (SMB) in the add source section, and it discovers my PC fine, but on the Core I get "Error 2: share not available". It doesn't even see the PC. I have it on ethernet, and it is working fine on the network for netflix and the main android experience.Every other Kodi device I have detects the kodi error 2 share not available mac PC and allows me to access (with username/password), but this won't even see it which is strange.Any thoughts on what might be wrong? Many thanks Comments wrxtasy Junior Member Posts: 753 December 2015 #1 In Kodi try:Add network location > Protocol = Windows SMB > Server Name = IP address of the server PLUS then put :445 on the end (this is the SMB TCP Port Number) > OKEg > 192.168.1.1:445Usernames and password may be required. Then select the smb://ip.address.of.server from the list again to add your shares. sitruz Junior Member Posts: 53 December 2015 #2 You are a genius, and a very nice person. :-) As you might guess it worked. Thank you very much wrxtasy. Perfect! Many thanks wrxtasy Junior Member Posts: 753 December 2015 #3 Glad to help. This one stumped me for a while as well with Kodi trying to read files via SMB from my iMac server. skykid2 March 13 #4 OMG this problem has been popping up every once in a while for years!!! finally a solution!!! thank thank thank you. and BTW I signed up for this website just to say thank you!! connected through mysql to share the library. Raspberry Pi #1 is setup as the main kodi smb connection timed out device and scans my pc over smb regularly to add new kodi unknown error 8216 files to the library. The others do not have sources setup as they don't scan and can error 2 share not available fire tv use the details stored in mysql. I upgraded the main pi from raspbmc to osmc today and it went very smoothly. I added the sources to match mysql http://www.wetekforums.com/v/index.php?p=/discussion/22160/error-adding-windows-network-smb-to-kodi-error-2-share-not-available (as I forgot to backup sources.xml) with no problems. Pi 2 is a b+ running a wireless connection. I did the same rebuild, but when I went to browse smb (so it stores login credentials), I immediately get the error 2 share not available issue. I have seen people talking about source permissions etc, but the error https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/solved-error-2-share-not-available/4011 appears before it gets anywhere on the smb network. Unfortunately, while manually adding a network location lets me browse the server OK, I still can't watch files, as it hasn't stored the credentials correctly. Sorry for the long post, but having searched around, no one seems to have a setup like mine and I can't find a way Thanks in advance for your help Dave ActionA 2015-05-11 16:31:55 UTC #2 Tried this? http://kodi.wiki/view/MySQL/Sync_other_parts_of_Kodi#Network_share_passwords PureLoneWolf 2015-05-11 17:33:21 UTC #3 Nope, indeed I did not. I will try it as soon as I get home and see if it helps. Thanks PureLoneWolf 2015-05-11 20:03:58 UTC #4 Absolutely superb. Never had to do that before because smb browsing never gave me a problem, however, that will stick with me now... EDIT3: Not solved. Now it's gone back to not seeing any workgroup at all. EDIT2: Solved by going to control panel, searching "turn windows features on or off", enabling SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing error 2 Support, and restarting Hello everyone, I have set up OpenELEC on my Raspberry Pi once before to use the shared files and folders of my Windows 8.1 PC so I could stream movies to the monitor downstairs. This worked perfectly once before. Now I need to set it up again on a fresh copy of OpenELEC and on a different PC, so here's what I did: 1. I error 2 share created a Windows Homegroup and made a shared folder with all the movies I want to share 2. I disabled password protected file sharing 3. I verified my Windows workgroup and PC name 4. I turned on network discovery so my PC can be seen by other devices on the same network 5. I installed OpenELEC to my Raspberry Pi and got it connected to the Internet 6. I tried to add a video source by going to browse -> Windows network (SMB), but now I get one of three problems: - Error 2: Share not available - No devices appear - Every device appears except mine The first problem doesn't happen very often, the second problem happens most often and the third happens occasionally. EDIT: Also, manually putting in the IP address of my PC doesn't seem to work. It just times out instantly. I might have just put it in incorrectly. What's the correct format for that, if I manually put in the IP address? Would it be IPADDRESS/pcname/location? I also have a problem where the Pi freezes completely a few seconds into a manual update. Last Edit: 1 year 8 months ago by EdgeOfPain. The administrator has
