I was a little underwhelmed at the main Android performance at first, as I bought it for a Christmas present for raspbmc samba password my parents to replace their current WDTV Live solution (They need simple lol). Having

gone into the Kodi side of things, I've found it fantastic! The way it integrates back to Android is awesome. I've
Configurar Samba Raspbmc
added a new 'clean' skin and added Netflix to menu which boots back to the native Android Netflix app which is so cool! Love it.I'm having a problem adding a network share to Kodi though, and

I think it's likely to be something on the box side, as I run a Kodi installation myself on an Intel NUC for my own media.Normally on other Kodi installations, I go to Windows network (SMB) in the add source section, and it discovers my PC fine, but on the Core I get "Error 2: share not available". It doesn't even see the PC. I have it on ethernet, and it kodi error 2 share not available smb is working fine on the network for netflix and the main android experience.Every other Kodi device I have detects the PC and allows me to access (with username/password), but this won't even see it which is strange.Any thoughts on what might be wrong?Many thanks Comments wrxtasy Junior Member Posts: 762 December 2015 #1 In Kodi try:Add network location > Protocol = Windows SMB > Server Name = IP address of the server PLUS then put :445 on the end (this is the SMB TCP Port Number) > OKEg > 192.168.1.1:445Usernames and password may be required.Then select the smb://ip.address.of.server from the list again to add your shares. sitruz Junior Member Posts: 53 December 2015 #2 You are a genius, and a very nice person. :-) As you might guess it worked. I've installed XBMC Live onto a USB to run on a little error 2 share not available kodi android ION system I've built. All works fine apart from when I try to access files on the network. When I browse for a new share and click "Windows Network (SMB)", it throws up this http://www.wetekforums.com/v/index.php?p=/discussion/22160/error-adding-windows-network-smb-to-kodi-error-2-share-not-available error: ERROR 2: SHARE NOT AVAILABLE Any ideas why this is? As an aside, where abouts is the USB drive mounted in the filesystem by default? I can't seem to find it. EDIT I'm connected to the network fine by the way. I can SSH in and the weather updates ok too. Have checked all setting- workgroup is OK, password sharing off, folders shared, can access them from my eee using ubuntu. Its just XBMC which seems to have this problem! find quote Evanrich Fan Posts: 491 Joined: Nov 2008 Reputation: 0 Location: Sunnyvale, CA 2009-12-18 17:56 Post: #5 this happens to me too sometimes, but my files are on a freebsd box running samba....restarting xbmc a few times usually fixes it. Almost always, browsing through SMB gives an Error 2: Share Not Available message. Sometimes, I can see the R.Pi almost never my Samba server, an Asus 1225C running Linux error 2 Mint 13 (same problem with Ubuntu 12.04 before), and I can never access the share. Using Add Network Location gives a Connection timed out message, see log file. Using Raspbmc, I added the share files to sources.xml, still no connection. I've also tried OpenElec, and I'm now back to XBian, the first I tried incidentally - nice to see the progress. But still no Samba shares - any ideas? 8th Mar, 2013, 11:42 PM Post: #2 Koenkk Registered Posts: error 2 share 1,238 Joined: Dec 2012 Reputation: 112 RE: Samba: Error 2: Share... Connection timed out Can you try adding directory and guest masks to the share. So for example Videos will look like this: Code: [Videos]
path = /home/damian/Videos
writeable = no
create mask = 777
directory mask = 777
browseable = yes
guest ok = yes Please read rules and do a search before you post! . FAQs . How to post log file? . Looking for answers?
