well, the room is sufficiently ventilated or air conditioned to keep the ambient within limits, the rack properly sealed, and the module heatsinks and door filter clean.- The recent warmer weather(!) may have exposed inadequate cooling or a rack that wasn't originally sealed properly. CEM+ v3.0.0 did not respect the always-on fan setting that is recommended for RCD-equipped racks, so controlnet troubleshooting guide if it has RCDs upgrade the group to the latest firmware and ensure the fan is Always On. Backplane Com Error means that the CEM+ can't communicate with the backplane chip, and is either a faulty/improperly inserted backplane chip, faulty backplane or faulty CEM+. Pushing on the backplane chip to fully seat it may correct that error. If it doesn't, then you can swap over CEM+ if there is more than one rack in the group, or replace the backplane chip to narrow down the fault. This chip is only for backing up the configuration (in case you need to replace the CEM+) so the rack will continue to dim absolutely fine with this error. It is an RCD equipped rack so shall update the firmware and check FAN settings to ALWAYS ON. New backplane on route to us - will visit site end of next week and work through the above suggestions. M

Symptom Action A hard disk drive has failed, and the associated amber hard disk drive status LED is lit. Replace the failed hard disk drive. A newly error codes installed hard disk drive is not recognized. Make sure that the installed hard disk drive or RAID adapter is supported. For a list of supported optional devices, see the IBM ServerProven website. Observe the associated amber hard disk drive status LED. If the LED is lit, it indicates a drive fault. If the LED is lit, remove the drive from the bay, wait 45 seconds, and reinsert the drive, backplane com error making sure that the drive assembly connects to the hard disk drive backplane. Observe the associated green hard disk drive activity LED and the amber status LED: If the green activity LED is flashing and the amber status LED is not lit, the drive is recognized by the controller and is working correctly. Run the DSA diagnostics program to determine whether the drive is detected. If the green activity LED is flashing and the amber status LED is flashing slowly, the drive is recognized by the controller and is rebuilding. If neither LED is lit or flashing, check the hard disk drive backplane (go to step 5). If the green activity LED is flashing and the amber status LED is lit, replace the drive. If the activity of the LEDs remains the same, go to step 5. If the activity of the LEDs changes, return to step 2. Make sure that the hard disk drive backplane is correctly seated. When it is correctly seated, the drive assemblies correctly connect to the backplane without bowing or causing movement of the backplane. Forward Error Correction (FEC) on Backplane Serdes Links The operating margin of the longer backplane traces in the Brocade MLXe series 16Ke and 32Ke chassis may be reduced due to signal attenuation. In the normal coding scheme (8b/10b), CRC errors are detected and the corrupt packets are dropped. The fabric is enabled in FEC mode by default on serdes links, single burst errors can be corrected on the fly so packet drops are avoided.
