subfolder. If you want to create local or CD install images, either through a downloaded image or by copying the source from the CD media, you must maintain the correct directory structure. If the installation program finds the word disk anywhere, it assumes that all required disks are in the same subdirectory and not prompt for parity error message their location. So, for example, if you copied four installation disks to this structure, a subsequent installation would fail: my_dir1/disk1 my_dir2/disk2 my_dir3/disk3 The installation program expects that disk2 and disk3 to be in the same directory as disk1 and not prompt for them. When you create a local image, all the disk# directories must be in the same subdirectory: my_common_dir/disk1 my_common_dir/disk2 my_common_dir/disk3 For CD images, make sure that the root level of the CD is the disk# folder: my_image/disk1 // the disk1 directory level is the root of CD1 my_image/disk2 // the disk2 directory level is the root of CD2 my_image/disk3 // the disk3 directory level is the root of CD3 If you do not have the correct directory structure you will see an error similar to the above. The problem https://kb.iu.edu/d/aaln was, these diagnostic codes were never really documented all that well. The codes that I am presenting here are from documents I have read through, found on the web, found in old books, documents and technical papers. As a computer technician, I rely on documentation to guide me through these types of messages. Therefore, I hope to provide this to error codes all those other technicians out there who get the opportunity to work on one of these. And, yes, people still use them and some refuse to give them up. The method for reading these codes is pretty straight forward. The first part of the error code indicates the device that is causing the trouble. The second part gives the meaning of the error. You can think of the first part as the test code and ibm 601 error the second part as the fault code. A fault code of 00 indicates that no problem was found. Thus 200 means the system memory was tested. The 00 means that no fault was found. 201 would mean a memory error. 202 would mean memory address error; lines 00-15. This page is rather extensive and will be updated on a regular basis. Like all the other codes out there. If you know of any error codes that I am displaying incorrectly or that aren't here. Let me know and I'll get it corrected as soon as I can. Thanks to Mike Rose for erors 129 and 229!
