find the sensor inside the oven, at the top, near the back. The sensor may be removed through either the front or the back of the oven. Temperature sensors are usually fairly easy and inexpensive to identify and replace. Not so with the solid state circuit components. You may be able to trace the problem to a defective keypad or EOC or ERC (Electronic Oven / Range Control; essentially the clock unit,) but often the kenmore oven error codes f5 diagnosis is ambiguous. (i.e., it's either the ERC or the keypad.) Unfortunately, keypads and ERC's are electrical parts, and expensive ones at that. Electrical parts are almost always non-returnable at the parts store. So if you've misdiagnosed a problem and bought a keypad when the problem was a circuit board, you're now the not-so-proud owner of an expensive keypad that is of no use to you. For this reason, I caution you: IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OF YOUR DIAGNOSIS, CALL A QUALIFIED, FACTORY-AUTHORIZED TECHNICIAN to diagnose and repair your oven. It may cost a little more now, but ultimately you will probably save yourself a LOT of hassle and money. The factory-authorized technician has an advantage in that he can diagnose by trial and error and reuse the part if he guesses wrong. Please note also that manufacturers constantly change things, using different parts on different oven models. Though we do our level best to keep up on all the changes, we do not guarantee the accuracy of the error codes listed. Use them at your own risk. And don't forget; you're dealing with electricity here. As always, disconnect power on any control you're disassembling or assembling. When you need to test a live circuit, always make sure all contacts are clear from shorting, then energize the circuit just long en

published, help is on its way! I have a f30 error code on kenmore oven(electric). Report This by Manage My Life February 25th, 2011 Kenmore oven, model no.770.96692401. At first we had a run away tempeture and the http://www.shopyourway.com/questions/1109319 f10 error code appeared and the oven had to be shut down at the breaker. http://www.shopyourway.com/questions/1095383 We tried again and same result. I took off panel and found that the simmer sellect board had burn marks. I replaced this and tested the oven probe aswell and that measured out to the right ohm reading. After this was done I we turned the oven on and the f30 code appeared. We had a repair man come and take a error codes look and he said the control board was bad so I replaced it and the f30 code came up again. Please help-Joe. Share it! I located a previous expert post that has an attachment oven error codes with the error codes and recommended checks. It may help while you wait for the expert to review this situation for a better answer. I attached the link below. Hope this helps! by Manage My Life February 25th, 2011 Answered in 8 minutes Comment Give your feedback by voting on answers 0 votes The F30 indicates that the electronic oven control board detects an open oven temperature sensor probe. The F10 is similar. It indicates a runaway temperature. The F10 can be caused by high resistance in the oven temperature sensor probe circuit. The electronic oven control board senses oven temperature by measuring the resistance through the oven temperature sensor probe. It is likely that you can diagnose and repair this failure yourself since you indicate that you have an electronics background. I recommend unplugging the range and shutting off the gas supply to the range. Remove the back panel to access the oven temperature sensor probe that protrudes through the back wall of the oven. Unplug the wire harness connection on the sensor. Using a volt/ohm meter, measure the resistance through the leads on the oven temperature sensor probe. The normal resistance of this component at room temperature is around 1100 ohms. Since you are getting the F30 error code, you will likely measure infinite resistance (open). If this is the case, then you will need to replace the ove

While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link that will provide you with more information about your problem. I hope my link is useful. by Joseph Perez Earned 62,685 community points in Click'>Kenmore October 20th, 2010 Answered in 7 minutes Comment Give your feedback by voting on answers 1 votes In this situation, the F1 likely indicates that you have a failed electronic control board. I can sometimes be caused by a bad oven temperature sensor probe but in this situation, it is more likely that you have a bad control board that will need to be replaced. You can unplug the range and remove the back panel to access the control board. Since you heard some popping, you will likely see burned spots on the control board. If you do, then I recommend that replace the board. You can order this part (316207511) from the Sears PartsDirect website. You may also need the overlay (part 316220839) unless you can reuse the original one. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components. If you see no apparent damage to the control board, you can check the temperature sensor probe as described in the previous answer provided above by Joseph P. If the sensor resistance is high (above 2500 ohms) then this could be causing your F1 error code. The part number for the sensor is 316233902. The image below shows how to access the sensor probe in this type of range. If you do not see mounting screws inside the oven cavity, then you will need to re
