These can prevent you from being able to continue using your Nikon D40x. Many errors are easily corrected by simple troubleshooting, such as making nikon d50 error codes sure the memory card and the lens are properly seated. The R11 error is not an actual Nikon D40x error code; rather, this is a warning about the number of images remaining before the camera runs out of space in http://www.richardpeters.co.uk/blog/2011/01/07/nikon-dslr-error-codes-what-do-they-mean/ the buffer. Review the code in the LCD screen located on the top of the camera or by viewing the LCD screen on the back of the camera body. Make sure that the error is preceded with the letter "R" and is followed by a number and make a note of the number. Slow down your shooting. The "R11" indicates that you can take 11 more images before the buffer is full and the camera will stop functioning until http://www.ehow.com/how_6327343_fix-nikon-d40x-digital-camera.html the images are moved to the memory card. Select a smaller file size. Nikon cameras allow you to select from several sizes of JPEG as well as a RAW and a RAW + JPEG file. These files vary in size. If you select a smaller file size, the buffer will take longer to fill, allowing you to shoot longer. Turn off long exposure noise reduction. This function causes the camera to expose twice for every image, and this can fill up the buffer quickly as those images are processed and written to the card.
