The "R" is the number of pictures that may be taken (and stored on the camera's built-in, non-removable, high speed memory) before the camera must move the images to the removable memory card. If you take a number of pictures in rapid succession, the R19 will decrease to R18, R17, R16 etc. If you shoot all the way to R1, you won't be able to shoot again until the camera is allowed to move the images to the removable memory card. If you don't take pictures in rapid fire mode - the R19 will probably not change as the camera is transferring between your shots.I hope this was very helpful. The solution is pretty simple - all you have to do is dismount your lens and clean the lens contacts, then clean camera contacts and mount the lens back on the camera and see what happens. Sounds too complicated? Are you afraid to damage your camera and/or lens?
