Toggerman Messages: 763 Name: Scott Edit My Images: Yes Hi all, I've just bought a D700 on ebay (through a shop) and was chuffed when it arrived this morning. I've been playing with it today and all was well until I put my Sigma 100-300 f4 on it, and it threw up an fEE error. Tried my 50mm f.18 D and same thing. I tried both lenses on my D300 and both work perfectly. I've cleaned the contacts on the D700, I've checked for any damage but can't see anything wrong. I've changed the custom setting on the D700 to allow control by the aperture ring and the error went away and it showed f22. When I tried lowering the aperture via the ring it keeps saying f22 all the way down to f8, at f5.6 it keeps jumping between f11 anf f16. The ring is moving perfectly fine, no sticking, no noises. I've contacted the shop, just waiting for a response, but I was wondering in the meantime if anyone has any knowledge/experience of this and it's possible cause and/or fix. Thanks, Scott. Apparently it is cause when water gets inside the ring guide on the body (the bit you can move). My problem resolved itself after I left the camera near a radiator overnight (after a few weeks of showing the error), it hasn't come back since. Otherwise you have to ship it off to Nikon who can fix it, it's a fairly well known problem. Nawty, Mar 16, 2012 Share #3 kenm Messages: 239 Name: Ken Edit My Images: Yes I know nothing about D700s, but to get the AF Nikon 50mm working on my D7000 I had to turn the ring to minimum aperture and then align the little white mark on the lens with the orange mark. This locked the aperture ring so the command dial could control it. Otherwise I got the
