Fear not, your camera might not damaged and there might be no need to return it back to Nikon, as they suggest in most camera manuals. The reason why this error comes up, is because your nikon d750 error message camera is not properly communicating with your lens due to some dirt and grease both on camera and lens contacts. The solution is pretty simple - all you have to do is dismount your lens and clean the lens contacts, then clean camera contacts and mount the lens back on the camera and see what happens. exactly what needs to be done.So here is the step-by-step process:Dismount camera lens - before you remove the lens, make sure that you are doing this in a clean environment indoors. I prefer to do it at night (when kids are sleeping) in the bathroom :) If you have not dismounted a lens from your camera yet, now is the time to learn. Turn off your camera. Press the lens release button located to the left of the lens when the camera is viewed from the top, then rotate the lens clock-wise to dismount the lens as shown here. Right after the lens is dismounted, put the black plastic camera cap back on the camera lens mount to prevent dust from getting into the camera.Clean lens contacts - there are many different cleaning solutions out there, but I would recommend the following approach: first, wash your hands with soap and dry them out. Next, put some denatured alcohol (ethanol) on dry, light-colored microfiber cloth, wrap it around your index finger and gently wipe each lens contact in circular motion without touching the glass on the back of the lens. Here is how the contacts look like on the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G lens: If you can see dirt or grease on the microfiber cloth, repeat the above process again using the cleaner part of the cloth. Once yo

I suspect low battery is your problem. Good luck. --'A man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself
we were preparing to shoot photos of our Rock & Roll Halloween costumes when tragedy struck. I put my Nikon D7000 on the tripod, shot a few test shots then noticed the camera started making a http://www.kriskoeller.com/blog/2011/10/31-death-of-a-camera-the-dreaded-nikon-d7000-err.htm pretty awful clunking noise. It would no longer focus, the live preview wouldn't enable, and the camera controls became unresponsive. I replaced the battery, swapped the memory cards and changed the lens, but all to no avail. The camera seemed to be in mirror lock-up mode, but the shutter wouldn't actuate and the autofocus servos weren't moving. The last photo the camera took shows obvious signs of a state of error codes failure. I'm not really sure what's happening in this photo. In this photo, there's clearly something amiss. I started getting an error message on the top LCD, a cryptic and uninformative, 'Err'. I did some Googling and quickly realized that this is a pretty serious problem, and that the camera would have to be shipped back to Nikon for repair. The camera was still under warranty (purchased in December of 2010), nikon d7000 err so today its off to Long Island and I'll wait for news. Luckily we had a D40 on hand, so we went ahead with our Halloween shoot. I'm glad this problem surfaced now, rather than two weeks ago on vacation, or during our upcoming trip to China. Having a camera fail on the road would be pretty disheartening. Perhaps the moral of the story is always have a backup DSLR handy. That sounds expensive and impractical. Since 2005, I've had a Nikon D70 (now in use by my father), a Nikon D80 (now in use by my sister) and this Nikon D7000. This is the first time I've had to seek a repair, and hopefully the last. I guess we'll see. Wish me luck. Update: I got the camera back about a month later. Per the warranty, I shipped the camera off to the repair depot on Long Island. Most of the time was spent waiting for parts, but eventually I learned from the repair manifest that the entire shutter mechanism was replaced. From this I gather that the D7000 ERR is a big deal. The camera seems to be working great now, but I'm nervous it might happen again, so now I carry at D40x as backup while traveling. Wis
