In this short article, I will go https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/29816766 through each of the error codes and explain what needs to be done to get the problem resolved.Blinking "Err" messageWhen you see a blinking "Err" message on the back or top LCD, it means that there is some sort of camera malfunction. It does not necessarily mean that the camera is bad though. This error shows up fairly frequently on new Nikon DSLR cameras that have oily contacts from the manufacturing https://photographylife.com/nikon-dslr-error-messages process, which you can easily take care of yourself. All you need to do is dismount your lens, then use a clean cloth to clean contacts both on the lens and DSLR. If you want to find out how to do it in details, check out my "How to fix blinking ERR error on new Nikon DSLR cameras" article. If you have tried cleaning the contacts and the problem did not go away, try taking the camera battery out and putting it back in. If the problem persists, contact Nikon for further support - your camera might be damaged.Blinking "fEE" messageThis error only shows up when you use an older lens such as Nikon 50mm f/1.4D with an aperture ring and the lens aperture is not set to the minimum aperture. When you change lenses, you might accidentally rotate the aperture ring on the lens, which would trigger the error. The solution is to set the lens aperture to the largest f-number (minimum aperture) such as f/16 and lock it in place so that the aperture ring does not accidentally get changed again. Check out this article from Nikon on the same subject.A triangle with the letter "F"If you see a small triangle with the letter F by itself, it mean

When I have the aperture setting on the lens to 22 I can take photos. But when I change the dial to anything other than 22(lowest f/stop) then I get a flashing fEE message and r09 where the number of exposure left is. I don't have the manual for this lens but am just wondering if anyone knows what the issue is here. Newer SLRs and DSLR control aperture via the body, so these older lenses must be stopped all the way down in order to be used. Your lens is working as it should, and is not defective. To select aperture using your camera, ensure the aperture ring is set at 22 and shoot in either aperture (A) priority or manual and use the command dial and LCD screen to select the aperture you desire. share|improve this answer answered Feb 6 '11 at 23:00 Mike Hudson 50838 add a comment| up vote 5 down vote There is no problem. Its because the lens is "non G" version. The non-G lens have a depth-of-field control. But newer cameras require F22 because the camera controls the depth-of-field. Great lens by the way. I'm trying to find out if there is anything I can do to keep one of my favorite lenses. I popped my Nikon 50mm 1.8 onto my D7000 and I get "F--" flashing on the screen instead of the aperture. Several forum posts and other sources recommended cleaning the contacts on the lens so I did that, but to no avail. The aperture ring is set to 22 and locked, as it always is. Also, and this is the real kicker for me, it works like a charm on my old D70. Any ideas? I love this lens, as most do, and really don't want to have to ditch it. 02-25-2011,08:20 AM #2 Skipper View Profile View Forum Posts Senior Member Join Date Jul 2004 Posts 4,442 Hmmm..... before your kicker I would say send to Nikon. I had similar problem with a Canon lens -- everyone said clean the contacts but that did not work. Canon fixed it find by replacing something. But given that it works fine on other camera there must be nothing wrong with it right? So maybe there is something wrong with camera (D7000)? But I assume other lenses work with fine with it right? So is there some compatibility problem with the two? Tho that doesn't make sense. Why is aperture ring locked on f22? I see on B&H that is it capable of going to 22. Do you use on that f stop with D70? Have you tried using it with D7000 on a lower f stop? 02-25-2011,09:28 AM #3 Riepejer View Profile View Forum Posts Senior Member Join Date Apr 2007 Location Schiller Park, Illinois Posts 2,549 This post piqued my curiosity because I have the same camera and same lens but had not tried the two together. In my case it works fine so you need to contact Nikon.
