File Status 90 In Cobol
Jul 20 2010 07:53 AM Please log in to reply #1 gred Posted 20 July 2010 - 07:53 AM gred New Member Member 3 posts I have a 500 GB hard drive on a Windows XP Pro system as F: with over 400 GB of data on it. All of a sudden, I could not access the drive. When clicking on F: in windows explorer, it would say that "The disk in drive F: is not formatted. Would you like to cobol error codes mainframe format it now?" Ubuntu booted from CD could recognize the drive and its label, but could not mount it. I ran CHKDSK /f, it marked some clusters, but could still not access the drive. I installed and ran PC Inspector, and told it to find lost data. It spent a couple of days working, said it had found 74730 lost files. Then an error message appeared - NT_read error, error no. 23. I tried all three buttons, Abort, Retry, and Ignore, multiple times, but the same error always reappears. Now when I click on F: in windows explorer, it says "F: is not accessible, the parameter is incorrect". Of course I want to recover as much of the 400 GB as possible, and PC Inspector was looking like it was going to do that, but any ideas on how to get past this error? thanks - gred 0 Advertisements #2 Alzeimer Posted 20 July 2010 - 04:12 PM Alzeimer Member 1K Member 1,330 posts Try this freeware "TestDisk"Read about it herehttp://www.cgsecurity.org/You can download from herehttp://www.cgsecurit...stDisk_Download 0 #3 gred Posted 23 July 2010 - 08:16 AM gred New Member Topic Starter Member 3 posts I am looking for something that can recover data, and will skip a cluster that windows gives an error for, rather than just stopping. It's possible that's a hard drive issue. Try running a diagnostic on the drive, Ultimate Boot CD (www.ultimatebootcd.com) includes quite a few drive tests. You could try GetDataBack. It's a better program than PC Inspector File Recovery. Here's a link to more information: http://www.runtime.org/recoverability.htm I have had very good results with Restorer2000. http://www.restorer2000.com/ 0 LVL 91 Overall: Level 91 Hardware 36 Storage Hardware 29 Storage 28 Message Active today Assisted Solution by:nobus2007-10-09 you can try to recover the data with recovery programs; some are better in different situations than others. team. Debugging a Debugger to Debug a Dump ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ ntdebugFebruary 27, 20131 Share 0 0 Recently I came across an instance where my debugger did not do what I wanted. Rarely do computers disobey me, but this one was unusually stubborn. There was no other option; I had to bend the debugger to my will. There are many ways to make a computer program do what you want. If you have the source code you can rewrite and recompile the program. If you have a hex editor you can edit the code of the binary. A shim can be used to modify a program at runtime. In this instance I was in a hurry and I was ok with a temporary solution, so I used a debugger to change the execution of the debugger while it ran. Debug a debugger? Can you do such a thing? Of course you can. In this example a memory dump was captured of a system and I was asked to determine if the system had run out of desktop heap. Usually the !dskheap command can be used to determine how much heap has been used by each desktop. Unfortunately, this command failed me. 23: kd> !dskheap Error Reading TotalFreeSize from nt!_HEAP @ fffffa8019c65c00 Failed to GetHeapInfo for desktop @fffffa8019c65c00 EnumDsktps failed on Winsta: 19c4f090FillWinstaArray failed The error indicates that the command couldn’t read from the _HEAP structure at fffffa8019c65c00 for desktop fffffa8019c65c00. Further investigation found that reason I got this error is that the heap for the desktop in question is not valid memory. Because the memory is described by a prototype PTE I assume that the heap has not been initialized (Note: See Windows Internals’ Memory Management chapter for more information about proto PTEs). 23: kd> dt win32k!tagDESKTOP fffffa8019c65c00 +0x000 dwSessionId : 0 +0x008 pDeskInfo : 0xfffff900`c05e0a70 tagDESKTOPINFO +0x010 pDispInfo : 0xfffff900`c0581e50 tagDISPLAYINFO +0x018 rpdeskNext : 0xfffffa80`19c6ef20 tagDESKTOP +0x020 rpwinstaParent : 0xfffffa80`19c4f090 tagWINDOWSTATION +0x028 dwDTFlags : 0x110 +0x030 dwDesktop
