Home Error "err" Code On Rainbird ESP Timer On your automatic lawn sprinkler system you may eventually encounter an error code message displaying on the LCD on your irrigation controller. This message could rainbird ism-9 error codes be saying something like "err", "MV err", "MV error", "err 2″, "error zone 4″, or something similar. how to replace a solenoid on a rainbird sprinkler What this means is that there is a problem with a certain zone, electric valve, or the pump start relay. In my field experience, the problem rain bird esp modular alarm light on is usually a bad solenoid on an electric valve for a particular station or zone. For instance, if you are getting an error on station 3 "err 3″, then most likely the solenoid on top of the electric valve wired for the

third zone is bad. This is a fairly simple process to replace. If the message you are getting is an "MV" error, this stands for "master valve". The master valve is either a pump-start relay if your system runs on a well & pump, or an actual master valve on the sprinkler system if your system is connected to city, reclaimed, or a pressurized water source. The master valve error code normally means that the pump start relay is bad. Or if you don't rainbird err 2 have a pump relay, than the solenoid connected to the master valve spot is bad. If the solenoid is bad, you just simply replace the solenoid. If the pump start relay is bad, then you obviously have to replace that. If replacing that solenoid or relay does not solve the problem, then it could actually be a short or bad wire connection leading to that particular zone or relay. Of course, I always troubleshoot and diagnose prior to replacing anything, but since 90% of the time it is the solenoid or relay, if you want to your are safe to just replacing and then checking to see if it works. If replacing it does not work, or you want to check before replacing then you must use a multimeter/voltage meter to check and make sure the solenoid or relay is receiving between 24 to 30 volts when activated. If it is not, then you should check back at the timer/control box to make sure it is sending the proper voltage. It usually is, which means that you have a bad wire and/or connection, which needs to be replaced. If your Rainbird sprinkler timer is reading several errors, including the "MV error" then it may actually be the timer itself. There was a batch of original ESP modular timers that Rainbird made that had a problem like this. It was actually in the design and placement of the ribbon that connected the circuit board to the digital display face which was shorting

I just replaced the sensor, tested it with a multimeter, and installed it on the sensor terminals. The system works fine in BYPASSED mode but when switched to normal mode, the alarm light comes and stays on. I tried using the reset button but no change in status.Any ideas? Reply admin says: June 10, 2014 at 9:12 amDid you remove the jumper wire before connecting the sensor wires to the terminals? Reply e will says: January 13, 2014 at 3:20 pmcheck this…http://www.rainbird.com/documents/diy/ValveInstallTips.pdfmy red light was on…and I googled and found this site. I turned off the sprinkler water, bled the individual valves, turned the water back on …it was a bubble in the line…apparently. Reply admin says: January 18, 2014 at 3:22 pmIf the steps you just took cured your problem then great, but bleeding the sprinkler valves should have nothing to do with the alarm light on the sprinkler timer. One is water hydraulics and the other (LED light on the timer) is electrical. Reply Dan Gulick says: June 20, 2013 at 12:19 pmMNodel ESP-M 635600-17-d sn1232812 10 valves per box A
