PC is a Dell Dimension 8400, 6 years old with XP SP3 and IE8 and working just great until Wednesday. When turned on yesterday the internet connection was gone, poof. PC is connected to an AT&T Uverse router, and has worked fine for 2 years. Another pc is also connected to this router and has no problems. I even tried changing the ethernet cable, but that didn't help. Shut down Uverse and restarted - ng. Network Connection screen is blank. Network Setup Wizard goes through the steps but cannot create a connection. Device Manager is clear, no yellow exclamations anywhere - and I checked the details and copied them below: Modem: Intel 537EP V9x DF PCI Network Adapter: Broadcom Net Xtreme 57 xx Gigabit Controller Processor: Intel Pentium 4 IE opens to a blank screen; when I click 'Diagnose Connection Problems" I get a ream of info, but I noted that it repeated several times "Unexpected error from iphlpapi. The pipe is being closed." I researched iphlopapi, then looked for it under "Processes" in Task Manager, but it is not there. One question though, did you UNINSTALL anything before this started to happen, especially an A/V or Firewall? Some will 'disconnect' TCP/IP for you when uninstalled.
