Error Getting Codec Params Using Old Ivtv Ioctl
04:43 AMI got a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350 after looking at the mythTv documentation, and loaded MythTV; immediately, I was able to watch TV on it, but I had to fool around a while to get sound because I'm using a USB device instead of the motherboard sound card. Now I always get a failure to initialize video when I go to view TV. Looking at /var/log/mythtv/mythtvbackend.log, I find I get this: 2007-10-30 20:00:00.322 TVRec(1): Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV 2007-10-30 20:00:00.329 TVRec(1): HW Tuner: 1->1 2007-10-30 20:00:00.537 MPEGRec(/dev/video0) Error: Error getting codec params using old IVTV ioctl eno: Bad address (14) 2007-10-30 20:00:21.357 TVRec(1): Changing from WatchingLiveTV to None I have tried rescanning for channels with US-bcast, US-cable, and US-cable-hrc, rebooting with 30 seconds of power off etc, and I'm not getting any headway there; does this look familiar to anybody? What am I doing wrong? It's maddening to be so close and have nothing (again). My sound works beautifully now, but no video after I had it to start with is very frustrating. superm1November 15th, 2007, 09:54 PMAre you still encountering this? dizzlNovember 18th, 2007, 02:10 PMI got the same error on my PVR-500 on both tuners. I upgraded to Knoppmyth R5E50 about a month ago and the problemdidn't go away. The problem is the video goes funky, kinda like what you'd see with ascrambled signal, or where the vertical sync is out of sync and the image isscrolling over and over.Tonight I had tried to watch Grey's Anatomy, https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-598015.html the disk was full so I deleted abunch of recordings and finally was able to watch live tv again. In mythweb,I see that it's recording on tuner 3 of 3, looking throught the logs, I seethe followingMPEGRec(/dev/video0) Error: Error getting codec params using http://ivtv-users.ivtvdriver.narkive.com/66Yw9oNf/strange-ivtv-error-on-a-knoppmyth-r5e50-box old IVTV ioctlMPEGRec(/dev/video1) Error: Error getting codec params using old IVTV ioctlother related errorsMPEGRec(/dev/video1) Error: select timeout - ivtv driver has stoppedrespondingGoogling comes up with nothing on the ioctl error. Searches on the ivtv listarchives turn up nothing either :-(I've got 2 x PVR-150's and 1 x PVR-250, which are IIRC tuners 1,3 and 2respectively.Any ideas?--Harondel J.
