Using the most excellent "Dummies guide: Configure an HP T5700 for MJ using XPe s/SP2" thread I've managed to get the Magic Jack to run properly on a T5700 with 256/256. Here's the catch...when I started on my first thin client, I made a bootable USB DOK device, downloaded the XPe SP2 direct from HP i.e. sp29705.exe and flashed the thin client wanting to be certain that I started with a fresh installation of XPe. While the TC boots fine, and seems to function fine, the EWF lock icon is yellow and it has a red X through it. If I click on the icon it says "Error getting EWF status". Trying to run the EWF Configuration in Control panel returns an exception error. I've scoured the Internet and this site for a solution and it would appear that it relates to needing to run etprep.exe and/or make registry corrections but I've had no luck and need a "Dummies guide" to resolving this as I can't seem to even locate the etprep.exe file on the downloaded XPe image. FWIW if I ignore the EWF icon and proceed to tweak the configuration for MJ installation, it works fine. The source where I purchased the Thin Clients assured me that they had been reconditioned i.e. freshly flashed version of XPe SP/2 installed, so on a second T5700 I skipped t

The purpose of this thread is to give a "how to" tutorial on installing the CQC IV on a HP t57xx series thin client. These devices run XPe and have flash memory where you can load in the http://www.netfacet.xyz/keyword/error+getting+ewf+status IV and run it as a stand alone device. In other words, you will not have to use this device as a RDP client, but should be able to run the IV directly from the thin client. I couple of things to error getting note. First, there are several versions of the t57xx series and each version has multiple configurations. It has been recommended that you use a version that has 512mb flash memory and 256mb ram or more if you have a t5700 and 512mb/512mb minimum if you have a t5720. The good news is that both the flash memory and the ram seems to be fairly easy to upgrade. Here is a good article on upgrading your unit. If you have a t5700, just be error getting ewf aware that the unit will not accept a RAM module larger than 512mb, so don't try to use a larger module. Here is the official HP support page for the t5700. It includes drivers for some touchscreens (such as the ELO and 3M drivers) as well as a full XPe SP2 OS in case you need to upgrade or reflash the unit for some reason. Here is the User Manual for the t5000 series thin clients. I should give a special thanks to CQC user lesbib. He already has the IV running on the t57xx and has given a lot of good information about how to accomplish this. So while I may be the one writing this "How To" up, a lot of the actual information came directly from lesbib. __________________ Brian "Really dear, it was too good of a deal to pass up.
