I have a few drawings, originally done in 2006, that we have been working error getting linetype on in 2002. Today, fatal errors started popping up in a few dwgs. They now open fine in 2006 (more on that in a sec), but you try to open them in 2002 and you get a fatal error such as: Itinit: Error getting linetype from symbol table I have tried the autocad audit, purge & recover, but nothing. Also tried Bentley DWG Audit, and the dwgs now open in 2006 (even 2006 didn't open them prior to DWG Audit), but still no luck in 2002. Without having to copy and paste everything from the drawings into a new dwg, anyone have any ideas for an easy fix? on DWG opened with readDwgFile() Causes Fatal Error with INSERT Command by Fenton Webb Issue I am using readDwgFile() to open a drawing in memory. I then use AcDbDatabase::insert(). After saving this drawing and opening it in AutoCAD, an error occurs when I use the INSERT command to insert the block that was inserted. "Error getting linetype from symbol table" Solution This problem occurs if the preserveSourceDatabase parameter for the insert() function is set to false. If this parameter is true then the block is added correctly to the database. When this parameter is false, a Hard Pointer to the AcDbLinetypeTableRecord for the entities in the block are missing. Here is a code example. voidASDKtestSave() { Acad::ErrorStatuses; AcDbDatabase *pMasterDb = newAcDbDatabase(false); es = pMasterDb->readDwgFile(_T("C:\\test.dwg")); pMasterDb->closeInput(true); AcDbDatabase *pXrefDb = newAcDbDatabase(false); es = pXrefDb->readDwgFile(_T("C:\\test2.dwg")); pXrefDb->closeInput(true); AcDbObjectIdidOut; // if the preserverSourceDatabase parameter is false // the drawing corruption occurs - use true instead //es = pMasterDb->insert(idOut, _T("TestBlock"), pXrefDb, false); es = pMasterDb->insert(idOut, _T("TestBlock"), pXrefDb, true); es = pMasterDb->saveAs(_T("C:\\TestDrawing2.dwg")); deletepXrefDb; deletepMasterDb; } Posted at 03:59 PM in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, AutoCAD, Fenton Webb, ObjectARX | Permalink Reblog (0) Comments Calling AcDbDatabse::insert() on DWG opened with readDwgFile() Causes Fatal Error with INSERT Command by Fenton Webb Issue I am using readDwgFile() to open a drawing in memory.
