The good news is I was able to fix it fairly easily. Here's how I did it:1: Find the directory in windows explorer (C:\Program Data)2: Right click on the 34BE82C4-E596-4e99-A191-52C6199EB69 directory and select properties.3: Select the 'Security' tab.4: In the 'Group or user names' box, there should be the following entries; SYSTEM Administrators (xxxx\Administrators) Users (xxxx\Users) (where xxxx is the name of your computer)If these user names do not exist, create them by clicking on 'Edit' and then 'Add' and typing in the user name.5: Set the permissions for these user names (using the 'Edit' button) as follows; SYSTEM - check all boxes except 'Special Permissions' Administrators (xxxx\Administrators) - check all boxes except 'Special Permissions' Users (xxxx\Users) - check Read & execute, List folder contents and Read.6: Rember to click 'Apply' after setting up each user name, and when you are done, just OK your way back out

When installing they get the error: “ Error getting file security: “FILE PATH” GetLastError: 50 “ Where file path is that as shown in the attached screen shot (client name censored). Have tried restart and trying a download install as the first thing but still get this error. The PC is only https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27626792/Can't-install-latest-iTunes-10-6-on-Windows-7-in-network-using-folder-redirection.html a month or two old with a fresh installation. The only different on the network (Windows Server 2008) is that the network uses folder redirection so the “Music” folder is actually a network location (as you can see by the path in the error) Any input on what is going on here would be much appreciated as now the failed installation has caused an error in iTunes in that it reports an error on start-up stating that iTunes needs reinstalling and import of music will not be possible until this is done. Thanks in advance for any input on this matter. 0 Question by:afflik1923 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 30 Best Solution byIanTh your not the only one see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2688404?threadID=2688404&tstart=390&messageID=12785164 Go to Solution 8 Comments LVL 30 Overall: Level 30 Windows 7 9 Windows Server 2008 8 Apple Software 2 Message Assisted Solution by:IanTh2012-03-11 it sounds like a permission problem installing an application on the network share that maybe only set up for music data not an application can you broese to the network share and do some tests to see if you have the correct permissions 0 Message Author Comment by:afflik19232012-03-11 I forgot to include the screen shot before.
