The good news is I was able to fix it fairly easily. Here's how I did it:1: Find the directory in windows explorer (C:\Program Data)2: Right click on the 34BE82C4-E596-4e99-A191-52C6199EB69 directory and select properties.3: Select the 'Security' tab.4: In the 'Group or user names' box, there should be the following entries; SYSTEM Administrators (xxxx\Administrators) Users (xxxx\Users) (where xxxx is the name of your computer)If these user names do not exist, create them by clicking on 'Edit' and then 'Add' and typing in the user name.5: Set the permissions for these user names (using the 'Edit' button) as follows; SYSTEM - check all boxes except 'Special Permissions' Administrators (xxxx\Administrators) - check all boxes except 'Special Permissions' Users (xxxx\Users) - check Read & execute, List folder contents and Read.6: Rember to click 'Apply' after setting up each user name, and when you are done, just OK your way back out of the properties dialog box.7. Now try to update itunes. This fix wo

Join Now Hi, I have been searching around the net for the following error and https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/260089-itunes-error-getlasterror-50-when-trying-to-uninstall not had any luck finding a resolution; many people appear to have the issue http://www.mac-forums.com/showthread.php?t=324025 online but no suggestions on how to fix. The issue i currently have is that we use the iPhone Configuration Utility to manage our corporate iPhones to deploy policy settings, configure corporate exchange, password lock etc.. Out of the blue this stops working and will not launch with no error code, nothing…. Having searched online error getting some have suggested it’s the recent iTunes update to 10.7 and to resolve simply uninstall iTunes 10.7 and use 10.6 and the iPhone Configuration Utility will start working. Perfect so I thought that was until I try to uninstall iTunes, on doing so I now receive the following error: Error getting file security. \\servername\Homes$\userprofile\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\ GetLastError: 50 And a Ok to acknowledge popup window, once done the installer error getting file rolls back. Couple of things to be aware off: We run Windows 7 32Bit Professional on the desktops Windows Active Directory on Windows Server 2008 R2 Folder redirection policy on user profile directory to a central file server including the hidden system folder AppData I have checked user permission and I can access the file location all ok so it appears its not permission related as I have full control of the directory’s. Has anyone else seen this GetLastError: 50 code and anyone have any suggestions? From looking on Apple forums there is not much help I have spent a day so far working (now day 2) on this issue and currently unable to use the configuration tool and in a corporate environment this is an important tool we use to manage the mobiles. I guess the final outcome will be to move to a fully managed MDM application to control mobile devices but as that requires money that will have to wait for the time being and I will have to use the Apple tool. Any suggestions will be gladly accepted on how to get around this itunes Get Last Error: 50 error message Thanks Sam #next_pages_container { width: 5px; hight: 5px; position: absolute; top

A popup told me that a newer version 12 of iTunes was available, so I clicked on update and the process began. About half way through it stops and I get the error message "Error occurred while installing updates. If problem persists, click on Tools>Download Only and install updates manually". I followed those instructions and I ended up with a Downloaded Updates Folder, with no instructions on what to do next. So from that folder, I first ran iTunes6464.msi and before long I got the error message "Error getting file security', after which the installation rolled back to v11. I tried several of the .msi files in the Downloaded Updates Folder with the same results. Any help/advice on how to successfully complete this iTunes update would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I apologize if this post is in the wrong forum......I wasn't sure. Re
