The end user tried to reimage them with Ghost disks that were not formatted properly. Consequently the reimage process failed. The user then tried to use recovery disks, reinstallation disks and a reinstallation thumb drive but has been unsuccessful. The boot sequence has been changed in bios to put either the cd/dvd drive or the USB drive first. Regardless, rebooting the computer still brings up the black "Error loading operating system" screen. He cannot go any further. We've tried hitting F12 so that it prompts for where to boot, and even when selecting the o

Have a CD that does a set up process, but can't figure out how to do the recovery console since I don't want to format a partition with set up.SOLUTION FOUND. Forward to 2:00 in the video and press R. If given the option press 1 and enter. For whatever reason I wasn't given that option, but was taken to the C prompt and typed fixmbr. You get a Caution, just type Y. It takes a second to do. Then type exit and do the steps above again to take you to the set up page. Type R and then 1 and enter if given the option. Then type bootfix and Y after the warning. Then type exit and on the bootup do not hit anything and it should reboot on its own to windows XP. It worked for me.Hope this video helps others. So far the software is working as expected, however, I’m running into a problem deploying images. Each time I deploy an image I get an “error loading operating system” message on boot. Currently we have several sysprepped hdd’s that we use with a disk duplicator for routine imaging. I’m using one of these disks to upload an image. I pre-register the computer with fog and start an upload task for the host. Then I pxe-boot the host with the sysprepped disk and the image is uploaded successfully. Now, if I leave the disk in the computer and let it boot like normal the mini-setup proceeds and I wind up with a successfully imaged computer. To confirm the image will work I turn around and start another task to deploy the new image back to the same computer. I pxe-boot again and the image is deployed. On reboot I get the “error loading operating system” message. I’ve tried setting the hdd mode to LBA as suggested by researching the problem but it doesn’t work. We are running the most recent version of fog on Ubuntu 10.4. I have the image setup for XP, single partition. What am I doing wrong? What other information would be helpful to troubleshoot? Reply Quote 0 A Anthony Michaud last edited by Hi guys, I’m finding that this is also the case, I’m deploying Windows XP to older machines, and after attempting to WRITE an image that was previously resized, the image process fails, and then leaves the disk in a corrupted state. I am ONLY able to do full disk imaging with any success. Don’t know if this is relevant, but I’m using older machines, with PATA hard disks (still).
