Thread Status: Not open for further replies. My original hard drive is 40Gig I want to clone it to a 320Gig drive, but can't error loading operating system xp fix do it inside the original computer. I thought I'd try bringing my old 40gig and 320 gig drives to work, then use a machine with 4 sata connections to hook up my two drive and clone them that way, but after using http://kb.easeus.com/art.php?id=10037 Max to clone the 40 over the 320, and putting it back in the GX280, I get "Error Loading Operating System" from the 320 drive. I suspect the clone process did not make the 320 drive bootable, is there any way to fix that after the fact? I did boot the machine with the 320G drive using a Windows XP installation CD to get the repair module, so I can see the data, but it won't boot. I'm running Windows XP Professional Service pak https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-cloned-xp-pro-drive-will-not-boot.892214/ 3 I'd be grateful for any help don_1953, Jan 8, 2010 #1 Sponsor Elvandil Joined: Aug 1, 2003 Messages: 51,988 How did you clone? What software? Elvandil, Jan 8, 2010 #2 don_1953 Thread Starter Joined: Dec 8, 2006 Messages: 75 I used Maxblast 5 to Clone the old drive, but I wasn't booted to it when I cloned it. I wish the GX280 had 2 SATA connections, if so, this would have been easy. I had to hook both the drive I wanted to clone, and the new drive I was cloning to in a third computer that had multiple Sata connectors on the Motherboard I just tried making a bootable CD using the MaxBLAST 5 Media builder and boot to the GX280 with the bootable CD, but that brings up an error "To use the product, you must have one Seagate or Maxtor Device on your system. (Which I do, but it's just not seeing it.) When I boot using a Windows XP Pro installation CD and go to the repair module, all the files are there from what I can see. don_1953, Jan 8, 2010 #3 Elvandil Joined: Aug 1, 2003 Messages: 51,988 Is there just one partition on that drive? If so, try "fixboot" and "fixmbr" in the XP Recovery Console. If unsure, type: map and get a list of drives and partitions. Error loading operating system - Acronis support slow, says could take 2 MONTHS to help me. When I tried to reboot, I got the error "Error loading operating system". Acronis online chat support had me boot with the Acronis boot disk and then had me try the recovery console. They then told me to send them an Acronis Linux report (made with the boot disk). I sent that in on Mar 6 but (about 6 weeks ago) and I go to online chat to get status every week.. but they still have me waiting. Plus now all my data is gone since the restore overwrote everything. Has anyone seen that error after a restore? I can't afford to have my computer down for two months. I'd appreciate any and all advice. What OS do you have? __________________ Tom K.

It may even be on the drive that wouldn't boot. Try connecting the non booting drive to another computer. When you restored the image, where was the target disk located? In the primary hard disk location? In an external enclosure? Please describe how you did the restore operation. 2. Did you restore the image as "Active"? 3. Is your PC made by Compaq or Lenovo? 4. Which version of TI are you using? 5. Which operating system are you using? 6. If you still have a copy of the Acroni
