BOOTMGR is able to run memory test and set safe mode boot flag per explicit user request. But normally, it loads winload.exe when computer boots normally (cold startup) or winresume.exe (when computer resumes from hibernation). Winload.exe opens SYSTEM registry hive, gets list of drivers, loads NTOSKRNL.exe, loads drivers (*.SYS files) and transfers control to NTOSKRNL.exe. Winresume.exe loads memory dump from hiberfil.sys and transfers control to it. 3. Posting a screen shot from XP Disk Management would be helpful. Which version of Disk Director do you have? Have you created bootable media for Disk Director? Do you have any version of Acronis True Image? Which one? Knowing what you have to work with will help me to give you the simplest method of aligning your disk. __________________ Acronis TI 9, TI 10, TI 2011, TI 2013, TI 2014, TI2015, TI 2016, DD 10, DD 11, DD12 user. But in general, your ability to use Windows XP on a USB stick is limited by the fact that Windows Requires the CD or DVD version. It simply will not install from a flash drive, due to the Microsoft security that is used to protect their control over who uses it. There are tricks and hacks you can find on other sites, but TechSpot does not support the kind of work that may be necessary to install from a Flash Drive. What is more, it will take some real study, wherever you find guidance. Aug 1, 2009 #2 hellokitty[hk] Hello, nice to meet you!
