Post a reply 6 posts • Page 1 of 1 [Solved] Error loading BASIC of document? by DSKauai » Wed Oct 05, 2011 12:28 am This was solved! But I could not find any of the symptoms anywhere including in the http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=166 when it was pointed out to me. So, I'm glad it was pointed out, but perhaps it could be made more obvious?=======================================I am getting a new error. Everything had been going fine, I https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21531 think that I did a registry clean with CCleaner, and now when I try to open any OpenOffice file (document, spreadsheet, doesn't matter) I am receiving the following error:OpenOffice 3.3Error loading BASIC of documentfile:///C:/Users/Mark/AppData/Roaming/OpenOffice.org/3/user/basic/dialog.xlc/: (...) it runs off the box here, but the next line says:General ErrorGeneral input/output error. Now, when I hit the button to make it go away, it pops up a second http://140.211.11.67/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44388&p=207952 time. I make that one go away, and the file... loads. Seems to load as if there's nothing wrong with it. But I'd rather not have the error button. Attempting to do it, here's what I've done:(1) Re-installed OO using the Repair portion of install. Rebooted. Same problem.(2) Completely uninstalled OO using IOBit Uninstaller. Downloaded a fresh copy of OO, reinstalled OO completely clean. Rebooted. Same problem. So apparently there is some other problem lurking out there that even a fresh install didn't fix. My registry is intact, confirmed by two separate programs. So what is it that I'm missing? I've done everything that I could think of to reset it to its old state, but that obviously didn't work. (IOBit & CCleaner). You can see my signature below that I'm using Windows Vista, but again, this problem is one that just came up out of the blue, so to speak. Thanks much, I appreciate the help. Description joerg.skottke 2005-12-30 12:59:28 UTC This is a general catch all error loading basic for any "Error loading Basic of document" errormessages. The message is displayed when an OOo 1.x has been upgraded to OOo 2.x. In this case the path to the basic scripts is unchanged pointing to the "invalid" old installation directory of the 1.x version. The "clean" solution is to completely removing the 1.x installation before installing the new 2.x.
