Likely the driver didn't work, so you tried uninstalling the driver and were going to put back the old Realtek AC'97 driver, but couldn't get rid of the updated driver.To fix: Start, Run, type in "regedit" (no quotes), and delete the cmaudio string from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. This makes it so it will not run on startup and try to find the cpl file that was deleted during the uninstall or not installed correctly by the installer in the first place, whichever your case depending on when you started seeing the error. If your sound was working perfectly before this, you are done. Get the answer vutar 7 October 2012 00:21:03 then you have uninstalled some software which was running on every startup and now when you uninstalled that software a part of it is still trying to start with the windows but it cant because there is no such file on your computer .... i know how to stop the pop-up error but i dont know how to completely delete it... if you want to stop it then do this: open run and type "msconfig" then navigate to the "startup" tab. there you sholuld see the file you're looking for.... something like this: "C:\Program Files\Folder Name\cmicnfg cpl" just uncheck it and that should be it. If not then go back to the "msconfig" and navigate to services tab, at the bottom check the box "Hide all Microsoft services" to ease your search and then find it and also uncheck it ....
