SUMMARY OF PROBLEMS UPDATE: The main problem at the moment seems to be linked with the Inetcpl.cpl in C:\Windows\System32 - Cannot open Internet Explorer:When I open IE 9, the process appears, and internet explorer starts up. As soon as the tab for my homepage loads, IE closes straight away, and leaves behind the download manager for IE, asking me if i want to download my homepage. - Cannot open Internet Options through control panel:When i go to Control Panel > Networking > Internet Options and click on it, nothing appears on screen, no matter how many times i press it. Same thing happens with IE > Tools > Options; nothing appears - Cannot open Skype (I found this was linked to the IE problems):When I open Skype, the login page stays on a white screen, and i am unable to click anywh

Any help appriciated See More: error loading c:\windows\system32\inetcpl.cpl Report • #1 Tubesandwires March 4, 2011 at 22:33:39 ✔ Best Answer"i get error loading c:\windows\system32\inetcpl.cpl."inetcpl.cpl is the Internet Options control panel .Apparently there is always another message after that.Which one ? :%1 is not a error loading inetcpl.cpl valid Win32 application.orTHE SPECIFIED MODULE CAN'T BE FOUND. ........Which IE version do you have installed ?XP comes with IE 6.x.Most people these days install IE 8.Apparently you can often fix this error by un-installing IE 8 (or IE 7) and installing it again.......It's a VERY good idea to disable any resident module of any anti-malware software that you have running before you do the following.See response 3 regarding disabling resident modules of anti-malware software:http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...See response 14 in that if you have Panda Global Protection........Go to Control Panel - Classic View - Add or Remove Programsand Un-install IE 8 (or IE 7), then re-install it.If you don't have the installation file, go to the Microsoft web site after IE 8 (or 7) has been un-installed (you will still have IE 6) and get it, or you can go to the Windows Updates page on the Microsoft web site and do a Custom search for updates and IE 8 will be listed for you to install........Then enable any resident modules of anti-malware programs that you disabled. You should never have the resident module for more than one anti-malware program running at the same time. Solved Error loading c:\Windows\system32\inetcpl.cpl running Windows XP SvcPack 3, IE 8 Posted on 2009-11-20 Laptops/Notebooks Windows OS Windows XP MS Legacy OS 4 Verified Solutions 9 Comments 7,695 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-17 This is an example of knowing just enough to be dangerous...I've been trying to speed up my laptop (Toshiba Satellite M65 S809) and am now trying to correct the several errors made in the process. So, one at a time...I'm getting the error shown in the title. Have searched the internet, found solutions ranging from "search my hard drive for the missing file and copy it into the system32 folder" (no can do, search function in Windows Explorer no longer works)...to uploading the file off the internet from a site that no longer has the file. But everywhere I've looked the solutions offered are for older versions of Windows and IE. Just for background: My intention is to get past the errors so that I can do a clean full system back up, then reinstall Windows. But in the process, after uninstalling CA security suite that comes with Time Warner Cable, I seem to have contracted a virus. My son-in-law tried to install Norton but something is keeping it from being able to update the virus file. So that gives you a bigger picture of what I'm dealing with. Any expert advice that leads to a solution, or at least points the way out of this self-created maze...would be more than welcome. 0 Question by:LWK Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 50 Active today Best Solution byjcimarron LWK--The first thing to do is to get rid of the malware using the suggestions made.
