errors might indicate: RegisterForLogon failed (0x80040154). Phase 1 initialization failed (0x80040154). These were on a freshly installed machine. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times and no dice. mserafine Total Posts : 1449 Scores: 163 Reward points : 6280 Joined: 4/7/2003 RE: unfamaliar error: registerforlogon failed - Monday, March 07, 2005 4:16 PM 0 Where are you seeing the errors? Mark Serafine | Senior PFE - Manageability (ConfigMgr) | Microsoft Corporation tmarzetta Total Posts : 15 Scores: 0 Reward points : 26850 Joined: 3/21/2005 RE: unfamaliar error: registerforlogon failed - Wednesday, April 06, 2005 12:52 PM 0 I' m receiving this same error on a client and I' d be very interested in seeing a solution. In addition, I noticed that on the affected client, in its registry under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS there is a key named " Profiles In Use" that doesn' t seem to be present on fully functional clients. I' m not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but figured it was a distinction. And furthermore, it is my experience that the client isn' t functional, doesn' t process inventories or run advertisements. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. br
a file server, what seems to happen is that it will stop allowing access to shared folders, if you make the connection before http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/windows-2000-server-hanging.1526170/ what ever happens happens, everything continues fine. If you try and make http://www.realgeek.com/forums/wmi-fails-32671.html a new connection, you cant. Running net view \\wokapp03 times out with a network error, as our logon scripts ( kixtart 4.22 ) map departmental and home drives to this server it prevents people from logging on. The departmental drives ( around 90 gigs worth of data ) use to be error loading held on another Win 2K SP4 server, which occasionally ( twice a month at most ) had the same problems. Since moving the folders over to the new server the server has crashed twice in 24 hours. Server in question * Win 2K SP4 all hotfixes installed. * Storagecentral 4.1 build 462 since deinstalled ( had shut down the service after the first crash, since error loading module the 2nd crash, deinstalled, reinstalled as deinstalling did not prevent crashes ) * DL380 G3 1024 MB Memory, 2.8 Gig CPU * 3 x 146 gig drives,RAID 5 config, HP/Compaq Smartarray 5i CPU, network and diskusage are all under 10 or 20% during work times. > Operating Systems > Windows XP > Windows XP WMI > WMI fails WMI fails Posted: 10-13-2006, 02:03 PM dfbradley Guest Posts: n/a Show Printable Version Email this Page Post Comment I have colloected some more information that I hope will help, the error message in the log is: Error loading module {F7CE2E13-8C90-11D1-9E7B-00C04FC324A8}, return code is 0x8004100e(Mon Oct 09 03:10:10 2006) : NTLMLogin resulted in hr = 0x8004100e No errors in the event log. Only happens on our Windows 2000 servers. We use Commvault for backup and after a random amount of time (1-2 weeks) the backup will fail on these boxes. If I kill the winmgmt service and restart it everything works fine for another random period. Any ideas why the WMI fails connection after running for a bit and then works again after restrting the service?
