Was the Seagate internal or external during the clone? Did you remove the Maxtor before booting to the Seagate for the first time? Was the Seagate partitioned or a blank new HD? Did you clone using TI in Windows or from the Acronis TI boot CD? WinXP OS? Brian K, Jul 2, 2007 #2 wert Registered Member Joined: Jul 2, 2007 Posts: 10 - I'm using the Clone option of main menu. I have error loading operating system dell Windows XP sp1. - Both disks are internals. Both are SATA, both 80 GB. - Seagate was blank formated NTFS. Also Maxtor is NTFS. - Maxtor has 2 partitions. In the cloning process I have choose "equilibrating option" to made 2 new partitions in new Seagate. No problems in the cloning process and all data were copied. - I had remove Maxtor HD before startup Seagate first time - Cloning operation was made in Windows, then excuting Acronis in the same source Maxtor HD. I don't know where is the failure... I can see all dates. It seems the only failure is in the boot process. I have tried a fixboot and fixMBR without success. I will be happy to know any advice before trying again. thanks in advance wert, Jul 2, 2007 #3 Brian K Imaging Specialist Joined: Jan 28, 2005 Posts: 8,515 Location: NSW, Australia Did you connect the Seagate to the Maxtor SATA port on the motherboard after you removed the Maxtor? That's what I do. Brian K, Jul 2, 2007 #4 wert Registered Member Joined: Jul 2, 2007 Posts: 10 yes. also I do that. Don't you apply some special thing to copy MBR?. It is my main concern. Also, I wonder if it would be better cloning both disks starting from Acronis CD or the special Acronis Recovery partition. Manual don'

When I tried to reboot, I got the error "Error loading operating system". Acronis online chat support had me boot with the Acronis boot disk and then had me try the recovery console. They then told me to send them an Acronis Linux report (made with the boot disk). I sent that in on Mar 6 but (about 6 https://forum.acronis.com/forum/10197 weeks ago) and I go to online chat to get status every week.. but they still have me waiting. Plus now all my data is gone since the restore overwrote everything. Has anyone seen that error after a restore? I can't afford to have my computer down for two months. I'd appreciate any and all advice. Thanks Top Login to post comments Sat, 2010-04-17 00:06 #1 thomasjk Offline Frequent Poster Joined: 2009-08-15 Posts: 913 You may want to Google that error. I've never seen it before after a restore. What OS do you have? __________________ Tom K.

It may even be on the drive that wouldn't boot. Try connecting the non booting drive to another computer. When you restored the image, where was the target disk located? In the primary hard disk location? In an external enclosure? Please describe how you did the restore operation. 2. Did you restore the image as "Active"? 3. Is your PC made by Compaq or Lenovo? 4. Which version of TI are you using? 5. Using the free edition of your software, I created an image of an 80GB drive running Win XP Pro and saved it to a 500GB Hitachi Drive that I created two 250GB partitions on. Removed the original drive and put https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-cloned-xp-pro-drive-will-not-boot.892214/ in another 500GB Hitachi drive that was also divided into two 250GB sections. Image was restored successfully. I removed the drive that contained the image, and booted with the drive that was restored. On boot, I recieved a black screen which simply error loading stated "Error Loading Operating System." I then ran fixboot, fixmbr, and bootcfg /rebuild. Same error. I reformatted that partition, restored the image again, and this time ran them one at a time doing a reboot after each command. Same issue. I then created another image, got the same message but then proceded to do a repair of the OS with the orginal disk. I received an error message saying that it failed to complete. I looked into the boot.ini to make sure that was error loading operating reading correctly. Didn't see anything obviously wrong there. After two weeks of staying up well into the wee hours of the morning, I'm completely out of ideas and exhausted. The file structure is definately there and I can access all the files. I've ran through the Linux Rescue CD Part 1 and 11 twice. It simply won't boot. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.DSwift Nick Moderator United Kingdom 6302 Posts Posted-July 18 2009: 20:26:08 HiYou've done everything possible to repair the boot process on the disk and it should be booting so I think you need to look in the BIOS. Load your BIOS setup screen and have a dig around the hard disk settings for LBA mode or similar. If you find this option then enable and reboot.Hope this helpsNick - Macrium Support Topic Forum Locked Printer Friendly Jump To: Select Forum Reflect v5 Wish List Rescue CD Installation File Backup Disk Imaging Community Reflect v4 Installation Disk Imaging File Backup Rescue CD Wish List -------------------- Home Active Topics Frequently Asked Questions Member Information Search Page Macrium Support Forum © Paramount Software UK Ltd This page was generated in 1.04 seconds. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement don_1953 Thread Starter Joined: Dec 8, 2006 Messages: 75 I have an old Dell Optiplex GX280, with a single SATA connection capability, no chance to add a second drive. My original hard drive is 40Gig I want to clone it to a 320Gig drive, but can't do it inside the original computer. I thought I'd try bringing my old 40gig and 320 gig drives to work, then use a machine with 4 sata connections to hook up my two drive and clone them that way, but after using Max to clone the 40 over the 320, and putting it back in the GX280, I get "Error Loading Operating System" from the 320 drive. I suspect the clone process did not make the 320 drive bootable, is there any way to fix that after the fact? I did boot the machine with the 320G drive using a Windows XP installation CD to get the repair module, so I can see the data, but it won't boot. I'm running Windows XP Professional Service pak 3 I'd be grateful for any help don_1953, Jan 8, 2010 #1 Sponsor Elvandil Joined: Aug 1, 2003 Messages: 51,988 How did you clone? What software? Elvandil, Jan 8, 2010 #2 don_1953 Thread Starter Joined: Dec 8, 2006 Messages: 75 I used Maxblast 5 to Clone the old drive, but I wasn't booted to it when I cloned it. I wish the GX280 had 2 SATA connections, if so, this would have been easy. I had to hook both the drive I wanted to clone, and the new drive I was cloning to in a third computer that had multiple Sata connectors on the Motherboard I just tried making a bootable CD using the MaxBLAST 5 Media builder and boot to the GX280 with the bootable CD, but that brings up an error "To use the product, you must have one Seagate or Maxtor Device on your system. (Which I do, but it's just not seeing it.) When I boot using a Windows XP Pro installation CD and go to the repair module, all the files are there from what I can see. don_1953, Jan 8, 2010 #3 Elvandil Joined: Aug 1, 2003 Messages: 51,988 Is there j
