You need to actually continue loading (as if installing a new operating system) which will take you ultimately to a new option to (1) load a new Windows or (2) d
user turn the computer power on, after running POST successfully computer jumps to load the operating system installed in the user computer's Hard Disk Drive (HDD). In case of Windows http://how2repair.blogspot.com/p/how-to-repair-error-loading-operating.html XP sometimes it appears that it shows an Error written "Error loading operating system". This Error appears most probably, when a computer shutdown improper like power failure, etc. This cause the operating system installed format http://superuser.com/questions/92058/error-loading-operating-system-after-installing-windows-xp-on-separate-partiti corrupt and thus computer fails to recognize the OS installed on HDD. Unknowingly users install a new copy of OS and it caused them lost of their data, instead of installing a new copy of OS error loading on your computer's HDD, It has a solution which is quiet simple and very less time consuming. Just follow the steps below and you'll get your windows running again like before. Step 1: Boot your computer with the help of Windows XP Disc (Try to use the same disc, the one you use to install your previous OS). Step 2: when the installation wizard ask you these three options: Press 'Enter' to error loading operating install a new copy of windows XP. Press 'R' to repair. 'F3' to quite. Select option number 2 "Press 'R' to repair". It will direct you to Command Prompt (DOS). And then just follow the instructions given that time appearing on your Display Monitor/LCD. Note: Default cursor location on prompt starts from C Drive "C:\windows>_", so be sure to change the cursor location to another Drive like D, E drives "D:\>_". You can switch the Drive by typing"D:" and press "Enter" or otherwise drive scan will not run properly. Step 3: Now when you enter into the D drive "D:\>_" type this command "CHKDSK(Space)C:" and press "Enter". CHKDSK (Check Disk) command will start scanning your drive and will fix the corrupt format problems by itself. Step 4: When the CHKDSK scanning completes, it will show you the current status of your scanned drive. After that just type "Exit" and then press "Enter", your computer will restart. Now you can run your windows like it was running before on your computer. NOTE: This procedure can also be useto fix same problem in Windows VISTA. Here are the exact steps I followed: Installed Windows 7 on a clean drive - Windows created a 100MB system partition, then I created a 350MB partition for the O/S, and I left 125GB unallocated. Installed Windows XP in a new partition allocated from 125GB unallocated space. After first reboot of Windows XP setup, I get "Error loading operating system". I attempted to fix the problem using the "Startup Repair" tool on the Windows 7 installation DVD, and although it found a "master boot record corruption" and fixed it, I still get the same error after rebooting. windows-7 windows boot share|improve this question asked Oct 15 '09 at 6:50 gdenning 12815 migrated from serverfault.com Jan 6 '10 at 10:13 This question came from our site for system and network administrators. add a comment| 7 Answers 7 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted Windows 7 would have to be the last OS installed.
