I have a Macbook - 2GHz, 1 GB RAM - I have also installed Windows XP in a separate partition, which has been working fine for more than a year now. Yesterday the system(OS X) hanged so I had to to use the power button to shut it down. When I restarted https://macosx.com/threads/getting-error-loading-operating-system.303482/ the system initially I got the light blue screen for a very long time and again after restarting with the power button I got the message - "Error loading operating system" Any help in this matter would be highly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any more information. I know nothing about having such, but I assume if you can you have just ruled out a lot of hardware problems--like bad RAM. Otherwise, grab your installation disks for OS X, boot. If you can boot, see if you can repair your OS X with Disk Utility. Hopefully, that will fix the problem. If not, see if you can save your data. I have been able to transfer data to an external, to a disk, in such situations. I have even "stuck" it on a separate partition when forced to clean install the main partition. In other words, if you have not "backed everything up" as everyone tells you--but few of us do!--you might be able to "stick" your important data in your Windowz partition. This is just to save it. Then, if you have to, you can try clean installing the OS X. That should not kill you data

My Setup - Dell Inspiron 1100 P4 2.4 Celeron 20 GB HD (Partitioned 10gb OSX, 10gb Windows) 512 MB Mem OSX is hd0,0 XP is hd0,1 OSX is set to active and is primary partition formatted through Disk Utility to HFS+ I loaded using JaS 10.4.7 DVD. OSX and XP are both loaded and functioning. I can get in to OSX error loading operating as long as I leave the Install DVD in. OSX functions well once it is started. I have tried going in to System Preferences/Staurtup Disk to set my disk as stratup but it is not recognized. It seems to me that Darwin isnt loading from the HD for one reason or another. However it loads from the install disk which allows the OS to load from the hard drive. My question is how to I get it fixed so it loads from the HD itself? I would really appreciate any constructive input. Nofences Back to top #2 Rammjet Posted 14 September 2006 - 12:11 AM Rammjet InsanelyMac V.I.P. Russell July 2013 Was the image created from the same Mac and drive? If not, it will be necessary to run Sysprep before creating the image. If you do not have access to the original source Boot Camp partition, send an email to support@twocanoes.com and we will try to find a solution. Vern July 2013 If you have a partition that ISN'T sysprep'd and you DON'T have access to the original system, the best way I know to effect a sysprep on an image is a little complicated.First restore the image to an external hard drive (or any harddrive big enough, but I'd use a Thunderbolt drive for max speed)Then using a different Windows machine, backup the restored drive using Acronis Home 2013 and the Universal Restore option.Once you have the Acronis image, restore the image back to the same drive you just imaged. Use the Universal Restore option, (the universal restore effectively runs a sort of sysprep during the restore process) Russell July 2013 An easier method might be to start up the restored Boot Camp using a virtual machine like Parallels, VirtualBox or VMWare Fusion. Since the device drivers are abstracted from hardware, the startup process does not fail due to driver mismatches. Now run Sysprep, shut down the vm and start up Boot Camp normally. This method is useful if you do not want to (or can't) run Sysprep on the original source Windows installation. AKS December 2013 This is not working, Parallels shows an error, no operating system installed...And the "error loading operating system" after restore shows although Windows is restored on the same Mac... dadioh December 2013 Same here. I decided I wanted to replace my Bootcamp hard drive with an SSD. Imaged the HDD, repl
