two things. A. Set the boot order of devices, in what we call the boot list. 1. CD/DVD rom drive. 2. New hard drive. You may also have to change the interface used. There will be an option in the bios that sets the modes. Sata or Ahci. If the mode is set to sata change it to Ahci mode. Save the settings before exiting the bios. I have one USB stick with Ubuntu 14.04 http://askubuntu.com/questions/489368/install-ubuntu-on-usb-stick-error-loading-operating-system that I have used to install the OS on other PCs. The second USB stick is USB 3.0. I have both of them plugged in my PC and boot from the first one. During the installation I have formatted the USB 3.0 drive to Ext4 and install the OS on it. It took a long time (about 4 hours). Unfortunately, after restarting the PC and trying to boot from the USB 3.0 I am getting the following error: error loading operating system Also, I have Windows 8, Ubuntu 14.05 and Ubuntu 13.10 on my PC. I have restarted again hoping that he Ubuntu installed on the USB 3.0 will be found, but it had not been. Could you tell what I am doing wrong? NTFS partition on pendrive, made it bootable, copyed all files from DVD to the pendrive, test it on my laptop. It works, at least on my laptop (HP ProBook). But when i try to use it on another laptop I have, I get this error message: `error loading operating system I don't get it, why it worls on some laptop and not on anothers? I thought that maybe there was a problem with the partition table that gparted was not able to detect. So I used fdisk to reformat everything. After that it worked flawlessly.
