Perhaps you should consider a new PSU, or at least testing it (follow link in my signature for ways to test PSU). You should also error loading operating system xp install note that XP doesn't support SATA, natively; you'll have to install "other drivers" before the install, by pressing F6 (when you get past the formatting part, of course). Another way to format the HDD is to connect it to another computer (as a slave, if using IDE) and format from Windows. If you're using a SATA HDD, just make sure that you instruct the BIOS to load the HDD with the OS first. m 0 l Related resources pleaaase help! I used a Win 7 install disk to set the offset as per these instructions: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=326656&postcount=3. I used nLite to integrate http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/281533-30-error-loading-operating-system my SATA drivers for the mobo, and the disk is properly recognized by the XP install. I do a format (tried quick and full) of the drive, the files copy, then, when the machine reboots to complete the install, an error message is displayed: Error loading operating system If use XP to delete/create the partition, the install completes properly, but as we all know, the drive is not aligned. It seems as though https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/x25-ssd-xp-error-loading-operating-system.2041334/ using the alignment causes the drive to not boot with XP. I found a post in another forum, here: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62093 that found the same issue. Oddly enough, I ALSO am using an Asus board. Can anyone provide any advice on the subject? I have tried a 32k and 1024k offset, but have not had time to do a lot of testing. Any help is appreciated. #1 mattclary, Jan 14, 2010 Voo Golden Member Joined: Feb 27, 2009 Messages: 1,684 Likes Received: 0 I'd install XP as usual and use GParted (never seen a live cd without it, so that should be easy) for changing the alignment afterwards - that should work without any problems.. #2 Voo, Jan 14, 2010 imagoon Diamond Member Joined: Feb 19, 2003 Messages: 5,199 Likes Received: 0 mattclary said: ↑ I just purchased an Intel x25-v and am having some problems loading XP on it. No biggie, I can just boot to a prompt using the Win7 disc and fix it there, right?Nope. When I try that I get "Press any key to boot from CD" and then a blank screen with nothing but a flashing cursor. ::sigh:: Okay, so let's boot using the USB drive I installed Win7 from.Nope.When I do that I get "Error loading operating system" again. WTF?So, anyone know how I can fix this because right now I have a computer whose only function is BIOS tweaking. RobL777 Ars Tribunus Angusticlavius Tribus: SouthEastern U.S.A. Change the boot order so that BIOS looks in the CD drive first, then goes from there. This should allow the Win 7 repair CD to work, if you quickly "Press any key..." after the POST. You may have to use the Win 7 repair d

To switch between the two, I don't use a boot menu and instead just press F8 and have the bios boot up the drive with XP on it. I was trying to install XP on my new SSD drive since I only use that for video capturing. Now that you know that, here is the problem.I had set my XP drive to default boot in the BIOS and after using Wintoflash to put a slipstreamed version of XP on the stick so it loaded up the SATA drivers during install along with Service Pack 3 and other options without burning another DVD, I proceeded to try and load XP on my SSD. When that didn't work (presumably because I didn't do something right), I tried loading XP back up to redo the installation so that it would only add the SATA drivers during install, but my screen showed "Error Loading Operating System" and no matter what I tried, it wouldn't go away. I wasn't too interested in finding out what the cause could have been and proceeded to load up Win 7 and make the new files there and then give it another go. After trying again with my Windows 7 as the default in the BIOS I proceeded to try and install it again only to fail once more. I attempted to reboot to try and find out how to proceed and that is when Windows 7 also came up with the problem.I finally just reinstalled XP from the DVD so my question is this:How did me trying to install XP to the flash drive corrupt ANYTHING on another drive and how do I fix my Windows 7 installation? I've already run the repair console 5 times without success and hav
