I would be concerned about the state of my hard drive if I were you and I saw this error - it probably would be worthwhile to run a full error check on your hard disk as this type of error is frequently caused by hardware issues. comment:2 Changed 7 years ago by trac-robot Status changed from pending to closed This ticket was closed automatically by the system. When I launched pidgin.exe for the first time, I got an error about libatk.dll, so I installed the 64-bit version from http://www.gtk.org/download-windows-64bit.html, then ran pidgin.exe again. This time I get: Error loading pidgin.dll. Error: (193) Let's https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10957 have a more explicit error message than that. I have no idea if Pidgin needs a new file (which one?) or if something else is wrong. You need to install the 32-bit version of any dependencies. But they should have been included with the installer. If they weren't installed, then you can get the standalone GTK+-only installer from the SourceForge page. comment:3 Changed 7 years ago by trac-robot Status changed from pending to closed This ticket was closed automatically by the system. Maybe mentioning the name of the DLL file would be a good idea? comment:5 Changed 7 years ago by darkrain42 Pidgin does (as best as it can, as best as I can tell, not being a Win32 expert) attempt to format the error number into a message. That process fails, which I don't particularly know why or how. Note: See TracTickets

I've posted a test launcher that you can download and place in your PidginPortable directory. You'll then need to browse to the PidginPortable\App\Pidgin directory and rename pidgin.exe to pidgin-portable.exe. This new fix works in conjunction with Pidgin's ability to work from a self-contained directory but preserves the ability for us to error loading pidgin.dll use the CommonFiles shared GTK with GIMP, the ability to use a GTKLegacy for Windows 98/Me/NT and the ability for the data to be stored in the proper place for PortableApps.com Format. Please give this a test even if you haven't encountered the issue mentioned so we can be sure it works with shared GTK, legacy GTK, aspell, etc. Thanks, John Top Log in or register to post comments August 24, 2007 - 12:59pm #2 bgillis Offline Last seen: 3 years 2 months ago Joined: 2007-05-11 04:25 Thanks John I will test the new launcher at work on Monday and will let you know about the results.
