Error and Google Maps API Keys Google now requires an API key to use the maps API. If your key isn't working Open the JavaScript console and check the error http://wphostreviews.com/mappress-faq message from Google. If you have a referrer error, check that you entered the referrers using Google's format (*.example.com/*) Be patient: changes in the developer console can take up to five https://wordpress.org/support/topic/google-maps-api-error-missingkeymaperror/ minutes to update Get a Browser API key Go to the Google Developer Console From the projects list, select a project or create a new one If the API Manager error loading page isn't already open, open the menu and select API Manager On the left, choose Credentials Click ‘Create credentials' and then select ‘API key' Choose ‘Browser key' Give the key any name you like. You can leave the HTTP Referers field blank. If you're worried about security, enter a referrer: for most blogs, use example.com/* (Google's example only applies if you have error loading plugin subdomains). Copy the API key and click ‘OK' Enable the APIs Google Maps Javascript and Google Maps Geocoding Click ‘overview' on the left Under ‘Google Maps APIs' click ‘more' Click ‘Google Maps Javascript API' On the next screen, click the ‘enable' button Repeat the above steps to enable the ‘Google Maps Geocoding API' Paste the API key you copied earlier into the MapPress settings You should now see the sample map on the MapPress settings screen Get a Server Key A server key is only required for the geocoding function in MapPress Pro. Follow the steps above to create a new key, but select ‘server key' instead of ‘browser key'. Enter your server's IP address in the ‘accept requests from these server IP addresses' field Test / Local Keys You will need separate API keys for testing on a local server (for example, a server on your PC). For a browser test key, leave the ‘accept requests from these HTTP referrers' field blank. For a server test key leave the ‘accept requests from these server IP addresses' field blank. MissingKeyMapError [Resolved] Google Maps API error: MissingKeyMapError daneloctober @daneloctober 3 months, 2 weeks ago Hi, When I edit, a map appears briefly, then it disappears and it's replaced by "Oops! Something went wrong. This page didn't load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details." When I inspect, I see this error: "Google Maps API error: MissingKeyMapError" I tried adding my own API key, but then it says there are two keys included and there is going to be problems. Which happened, so I removed my own keys. How do I fix this??? Please help. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-google-maps/ Viewing 15 replies - 1 through 15 (of 32 total) 1 2 3 → cypl @cypl 3 months, 2 weeks ago Hi, I have exactly the same problem, the image of the map doesn't show in the admin panel, with or without API Key. I use the PRO version of this plugin. Thanks for your help, Plugin Author WPGMaps @wpgmaps 3 months, 2 weeks ago Hi there. Google Maps now requires the use of a Google Maps API key to display a map on your site as per this article: https://googlegeodevelopers.blogspot.co.za/2016/06/building-for-scale-updates-to-google.html. Using a Google Maps API key will not cost you anything, unless you exceed 25 000 requests per day (You will be billed by Google). To create a Google Maps API key, please follow this documentation: http://www.wpgmaps.com/documentation/creating-a-google-maps-api-key/ Your API key can be generated in the Google Developers Console here: https://console.developers.google.com/apis/library Please note that this is required when using the Basic or Pro version of our plugin. An additional video tutorial on how to create the API key will also be released shortly. faustino @wordpress2075 3 months, 2 weeks ago I have the same error "MissingKeyMapError" (I see it by Firefox website inspector), even I have entered the Google map API key for the map. The key is enabled and I see at Google console that the key works. I have the latest WP version 4.5.3, the l
