The Webserver starts, but there is no audio. Here is the error message: inhibit interface error: Failed to connect to the D-Bus session daemon: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11 main interface error: no suitable interface module main interface error: no suitable interface module main libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys.none" initialization failed I tried to unistall and reinstall VLC, but it didn't work. What does that error message mean? vlc share|improve this question asked Feb 24 '15 at 19:31 user2422196 32111 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote It means you're starting your VLC on a headless console, without access to X nor your DBUS session, which VLC would normally need to access the sound system. Try specifying alsa as sound system via command line arguments, export DISPLAY=:0 before starting VLC (if you're currently logged in a graphical user interface). share|improve this answer answered Feb 24 '15 at 20:03 Marcus Müller 17.2k21240 ok, now i have more errors :( i got also: main interface error: socket bind error (Permission denied) cannot create socket(s) for HTTP host error loading script /usr/lib/vlc/lua/intf/http.luac: lua/intf/http.lua:332: failed to create http host –user2422196 Feb 2

I don't know if you explicitly want the cli interface or not, but I can help you run the vlc and get it's GUI back so that you can configure it properly. open the file "$HOME/.config/vlc/vlcrc" in any editor You may want to take a backup of it. search for "extraintf=" remove everything after the equals sign ("="). start the vlc. that's it share|improve this answer answered Aug 14 '15 at 12:43 Krishna Gupta 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
