I've only just started coding with XML, so I am sure I am missing something simple, but cant seem to find much information about it online. Booklist.XML
I'm having a problem with my XML and XSL pages. My XSL sheet is not complete yet, but when I go to view my XML to see how it looks so far, I get an error saying, "Error loading stylesheet: Parsing an XSLT stylesheet failed." Does anyone know why this could be happening. I am using Mozilla, I know that the browser matters, but I've done other web pages that have turned out fine. To name a few: 1. Invalid/Wrong path to the stylesheet 2. Invalid characters in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31577094/xml-to-xsl-error-loading-stylesheet-parsing-an-xslt-stylesheet-failed the stylesheet 3. Improper syntax 4. Insufficient Permissions on the file Open the XSL file directly through FF. If the problem is any of 1-3, then it will tell you on which line the error occured. 0 Discussion Starter lionburn50 8 Years Ago That's the problem I'm having, Nothing will show up, except the "Error loading stylesheet: Parsing an XSLT stylesheet failed" message.. it won't show me what line or anything, it is so annoying because I don't https://www.daniweb.com/programming/web-development/threads/100168/error-loading-stylesheet-parsing-an-xslt-stylesheet-failed know what is wrong with it. Thank you anyways!! 0 hielo 65 8 Years Ago "Error loading stylesheet..." is typically reported by the XSL parser, not the browser. What I am suggesting is to open up Firefox and type(as an example):http://www.yoursite.com/Project/myFile.xsl Firefox will not try to parse/interpret your XSL file. But it will try to create a "tree-node" representative of the document. Things that the browser will spot easily for you are for example: & instead of & or unclosed elements ( New? I'm guessing most likely it's a error in the xsl file and not the xml file. This is a little error loading stylesheet harder to find since if I go to the xsl file, it won't show a error. So I don't really know what the bug is. I don't know much about Xpath either, so I'm not sure what even the parsing error means. If you want to quickly go to the xsl file it's at: http://blahertech.dnsalias.net/_dev/templates/xsl.php (firefox will ask to save it though since it's mime type is application/xsl+xml) Any help, and I would be grateful. So I don't really know what the bug is. I don’t think that $location is a correct XPath reference. Perhaps that was supposed to be parsed by the server as PHP? And yes, you’re correct: the error is in the XSLT file.
